Review: UberChic Beauty Halloween 02!

(Press samples ahead!)

Hello!

Today we're going to look at UberChic Beauty Halloween 02...And I know what you're saying--it's too early for Halloween!

First--no, no no no--it's never too early for Halloween! Okay, I might be a little obsessed, I admit that. But I want you to have plenty of time to get your Halloween nail goodies so you can have an awesomely spooky October!

Second--this is one of UberChic Beauty's new releases, so of course I had to hook you up. Here's my video review if you want to check it out that way:

And let's take some look at the plate up close:

This plate has some great things I haven't seen before--the optical-illusion layered web pattern is highly cool, and I love that there are two other web patterns that vary web size. I ADORE the skull-and-bones cross-hatch pattern and the cupcakes are adorable. The easily-layered jack-o-lantern is a great addition, and plenty of stuff to build little scenes with.

This plate also builds on the Halloween 01 plate released last year, so if you have it or you get it, it's like getting even more bang for your buck. This plate has negative-space spiders (great over a black holo, btw!), and last year's plate has a matching regular image. Halloween 02 has witch legs, and 01 has witch hats--and so on. So take a look at that, too. :)

Here's a quick look at size:

But, but, but--how does it stamp??

That's some crisp stamping goodness right there!

Okay, so on to my sample mani. I was really inspired by both the harlequin diamond pattern and the skull-and-crossbones hash pattern, and I wanted to see if I could combine them. Before I show you how it came out, can we agree that Halloween is a time for going overboard? Because it's a lot, but I think in a good way:

Yes, it's a lot of look, but it's fun, it's bright, it's a great Halloween mani for any event, and the basic idea translates well to other similar pattern combinations with different colors. So I put together a tutorial to show you how I did it:

I started with a base of Spellbound Nails Crookshanks, then stamped the diamond pattern with Messy Mansion Chalk. Then I sponged on more Crookshanks and Spellbound Nails The Knight Bus for a Halloween gradient. Finally I stamped the skull-and-bones over the top with Messy Mansion Chalk. You'll notice I forgot to put my latex barrier on when I did my sponging!! Definitely much harder to clean up when you do that...arrrggghhhh...

You can find this plate and the other new releases (reviews up on my YouTube channel and blog posts coming soon) in the UberChic Beauty store now. Also check them out on Instagram and Facebook. :)

Happy stamping!
M.

  1. Another excellent review! I don't need another Halloween plate but now YES I DO!! Too cute to pass up! OT What prep did you do on the stamper? I have a heck of a time getting clear stampers to hold an image (tried dish detergent). Do you have a blog entry on clear stampers?

    1. Sorry I didn't reply to this before now! I don't have a specific posts on them. They can be tricky with certain plates, for sure. I have a few plates that only work with certain polishes, and only when I use the gentlest of pressure. So my suggestion is to try a polish you know works in almost any situation and start out with a super gentle scrape (sometimes I have to be so gentle it looks like there's a think layer of polish still on the entire image, but it will then pick up only the image), and a very gentle, quick roll. Then try upping the pressure as needed...
