UberChic Beauty's Love & Marriage 05 plate!

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

Today we're going to look at this year's Valentine's Day offering from UberChic Beauty, their Love & Marriage 05 plate. Of course I did a quick video review, with swatches for you:

And here's an up-close look at the plate:

UberChic Beauty Love & Marriage 05

This is a versatile plate with a little bit of everything--some layering images, some complementary images, great background images, and beautiful lace screaming to be used in a French mani look.

Let's jump into some manis! For my first I wanted to do something sweet for a pretty Valentine's look that tested out one of the layering images:

UberChic Beauty Love & Marriage 05 over Glam Polish Don't Go Breaking My Heart
Base Polish(es): Glam Polish Don't Go Breaking My Heart
Stamping Plate(s): UberChic Beauty Love & Marriage 05
Stamping Polish(es): UberChic Beauty Essential White and Kaleidoscope Pink

For my next mani, I wanted to go a bit different...I'm not a huge Valentine's Day person, I love the celebration of love, but some of the other stuff that gets put onto it can be a little much for me. So here's an alternative type of Valentine's look:

UberChic Beauty Love & Marriage 05 over Sally Hansen Get Mod
Base Polish(es): Sally Hansen Get Mod
Stamping Plate(s): UberChic Beauty Love & Marriage 05
Stamping Polish(es): UberChic Beauty Pure Black and Moyra Silver

I should note: these images are not specifically designed to be layered, and don't fit perfectly. But I love the way they go together to show three colors, so I had to play with them. :)

For my last mani I went back to a more traditional Valentine's mani, featuring one of my current favorite red polishes:

UberChic Beauty Love & Marriage 05 over Zoya Tanya and Sally Hansen Get Mod

Base Polish(es): Zoya Tanya and Sally Hansen Get Mod
Stamping Plate(s): UberChic Beauty Love & Marriage 05
Stamping Polish(es): Girly Bits Fire-Engine Red and UberChic Beauty Essential White

This plate is on sale now in UberChic Beauty's shop, and wherever else you buy your UberChic Beauty plates.

Stay tuned for my review of their new stamping polishes, and of their St. Patrick's day companion layering plate...

Big hugs,
M. xoxo

UberChic Beauty Damask & Baroque

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

Today we're gonna take a look at one of the two new plates from UberChic Beauty, their Damask & Baroque plate. As always, let's start off with my video observations about the plate:

Let's take a look at the plate:

UberChic Beauty Damask & Baroque plate

I think this is an excellent plate for all skill levels, even beginners--you can get beautiful images easily, with no fancy techniques, and without having to worry about fine lines or bold areas. If you are a beginner and want to play around with looks, I suggest playing with color--check out the swatches I did in the video above to see some examples of that.

But let's jump on into the manicures!

For my first look, I wanted to give an example of mixing and matching these images with other plates; I think a lot of these images are similar to lacy snowflakes:

UberChic Beauty Damask & Baroque plate over The Lady Varnishes Paradise For A Day

Base Polish(es): The Lady Varnishes Paradise For A Day
Stamping Plate(s): UberChic Beauty Damask & Baroque
Stamping Polish(es): Girly Bits Cosmetics Ker-minty Frog Here and Forget Me? Not!!!

For the second mani I wanted to play with color, so I did a stamping-polish gradient:

Base Polish(es): Glam Polish Rocket Man
Stamping Plate(s): UberChic Beauty Damask & Baroque
Stamping Polish(es): Messy Mansion Royal Purple, Blue You Away, Hydrangea Blue, and Chalk

And for my final look I wanted to give an example of mixing the smaller elements with the larger:

UberChic Beauty Damask & Baroque plate over Glam Polish Saturday Night's Alright and The B%$&# Is Back

UberChic Beauty Damask & Baroque plate over Glam Polish Saturday Night's Alright and The B%$&# Is Back

Base Polish(es): Glam Polish Saturday Night's Alright and The B%$&# is Back
Stamping Plate(s): UberChic Beauty Damask & Baroque
Stamping Polish(es): Color Alike Hot Sands, UberChic Beauty Pure Black

This plate is on sale now in the UberChic Beauty store, and I personally think it goes beautifully with the Love & Marriage 05 plate (all of the Love & Marriage plates, actually), so check that one out while you're there. :)

Big hugs,
M. xoxo

Hello!

Today I have one of the January Polish Pickup polishes to show you: The Lady Varnishes Paradise For A Day, which was inspired by the song 'Written in the Stars' from Aida:

Coverage: 3 coats
Formula and application: Pulls a little on the first coat, but evens beautifully on the second and third.
Description: A midnight blue jelly with gold-silver flakies and glitter. This is like a serene, magical winter night looking up at the stars while wrapped in a cozy blanket, sipping hot cocoa. Beautiful on its own but also a great base for nail art...

Speaking of which, I usually show you a little nail art with the polish right here...I'm going to do something a little different and show it to you next time, because it uses a plate that releases tomorrow. So watch this space...

In the meantime, this polish will go on sale tomorrow, January 3rd and will be on sale until the 6th in the Polish Pickup store. There will be 150 bottles available, for $12.50 a bottle. You can check out The Lady Varnishes' other beauties here.

Glam Polish Goodbye Yellow Brick Road Collection (Limited Edition)!

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Happy New Year!

I don't know about you, but this time of the year is always bittersweet for me. I love the promise of the new year, filled with new goals to accomplish and new possibilities. But I also am always a bit depressed by the end of the holidays...for me the time from Halloween to Christmas is the very best time of the year, filled with friends and family and love and lots of good food! So I'm always happy to have something fun and pretty and sparkly to replace those twinkling Christmas lights that I'm pulling down...

And Glam Polish's new Limited Edition Goodbye Yellow Brick Road collection is absolutely doing that for me! I have five polishes from the collection to show you, and take a look at this glamorous gorgeousness...

Coverage: 2 coats

Application and formula: Gorgeous, smooth application with no need to finesse the glitter. The jelly base will pull if you take too long, but will even out on the second coat.

Description: "Dark blue jelly with iridescent flakes and neon glitter mix." This polish looks like someone threw a handful of bright, fun confetti up against a dark sky--perfect for celebrations or galaxy nails.

Glam Polish Don't Go Breaking My Heart

Coverage: 2-3 coats; I'm wearing three because I had a little bit of VNL with two that I didn't want to show in the pictures, but in real life, nobody would have noticed and I would have gone with two. :)

Application and formula: Gorgeous, smooth application with no need to finesse the glitter.

Description: "Bright pink crelly with gold flakies." If Barbie had a bougie flamingo, this is what it would look like. This is energetic and fun; the gold flakes give this a hint of coral in among the pink that makes me love it, even though pinks aren't usually my thing!

Glam Polish Rocket Man

Application and formula: Perfection!

Description: "Silver holo with a hint of blue, holo flakies, and aurora shimmer." I got a lovely lavender flash on this, which gave it an icy winter-mornig feel to me. This is the kind of polish I love to wear when I want to carry winter with me, since we don't get snow where I live!

Application and formula: Gorgeous, smooth application with no need to finesse the glitter.

Description: "Dark brown jelly with shifting iridescent flakies and ultra holo glitter." I adore the ox-blood red-brown of this, and the bling fills it with glam. To say this is my favorite of the collection doesn't quite cover it: THIS POLISH IS MY SPIRIT ANIMAL.

Coverage: 2 coats

Application and formula: Gorgeous, smooth application with no need to finesse the glitter. The jelly base will pull if you take too long, but will even out on the second coat.

Description: "Holo base with shifting multichrome flakies, aurora shimmer, ultra holo glitter, and fine holo microglitter." This polish is like someone took a warm, cozy holiday fire, threw it into a shredder, and then put the results into a bottle. I love staring into the fireplace and watching the flames dance, and this polish does the same thing for my nails.

Hey, how about a little nail art while we're at it? Since Crocodile Rock looked like a night sky filled with confetti to me, I had to use it to make a New Year's Eve manicure:

Base polish: Glam Polish Crocodile Rock
Stamping plate: UberChic Beauty Party Time
Stamping polishes: Moyra Gold, Hit The Bottle Absinthe Minded (No longer available, but she has other brilliant greens!

Wait--is that the same mani on BOTH hands? Why yes, it is, because that's how much I love this polish and this look!
