NOTD: Dog Days of Summer

Hello!!

The penultimate challenge in the CNT summer challenge is 'Dog Days of Summer'. To me here in California, 'dog days' of summer refer to the hot, humid days with weird weather that come in just before fall, in late August and early September. This means hot weather accompanied by stormy skies, rain, and even thunderstorms. The timing on this was perfect--this is exactly what we had yesterday. It was balmy hot where I worked, close to 100 degrees, then the sky clouded up and we got thunderstorms. So, I decided to do a manicure that represented that strange late-summer shift we get.

Also, I got my new Cheeky summer 2012 plates today, and realized I could do this manicure with plates entirely from this set--so this post will also be my 'test' post about how the Cheeky plates stamp. :)

Here is the mani:

Dog Days of Summer...with obligatory cotton fluff

To make this, I used Wet n Wild I Need A Refresh-Mint, China Glaze's Elephant Walk and Concrete Catwalk, and Pure Ice Silver Mercedes to stamp with. The plates I used were Cheeky 36, 37, and 48.

These images were also a good sample set to use to test out the plates--some had really fine lines, and some had block shapes. In all cases, stamping was acceptable. The plates were not hard to use, but they did require a little bit of calibration on my part--my set were etched a titch deeper than I'm used to, which meant I just had to be sure to scrape thoroughly, or my images would be splotchy (too much in). But as you can see, even the fine details stamped easily and it didn't take long for me to get used to how to scrape with these plates.

So I can say without hesitation that these are good plates that you shouldn't have much trouble with, just give yourself a couple of practice stamps to get used to the right pressure to put when you scrape. Other than that, they're great, and you should be good to go!

Thanks for stopping by, and please check out the other dog day manicures by my fellow CNT bloggers, linked below. :)
