Today's challenge theme is 'Water marble'.
This theme makes me break out in a cold sweat.
Water marbles are not my thing. Not only are they messy and hard, but I have to admit...I'm not a huge fan of the look. Yes, I will now go and hide because I know the entire nail community is now required by law to shun me.

So, I was tempted to just keep my head down and skip today's challenge. But I also want to do every single prompt in both of my halloween challenges if I can...so I decided to do it, but to just do it a bit differently--a faux water marble. After all, Halloween is about costumes and illusions, and you're never quite sure what's real, right? (self-justification FTW!!)
Here is what I came up with:

To get the look, I started with a base of China Glaze Ick-A-Body-Y, a dense orange glitter in a black jelly suspension. To try for a more authentic water-marble look that swirls different colors, I stamped Konad plate m63 first using China Glaze Awaken (a light metallic purple) and Konad black polish. Over that, a quick coat of Seche Vite to help bring out the color contrasts.
Despite not being a huge fan of the water-marble look, I do like how this came out; it has a nice Halloween feel to it that looks cool, I think.

DeleteI would never shun anybody for their preferences! There've been quite a few nail art fads over the last year that took a while to grow on me. And we all know that watermarbling is *tricky*. I think it was my third try before I ended up with something I found tolerable to keep on my nails. :)

DeleteYou don't have to like water marbling. I love the way it looks, but some trends just don't fit everyone I don't like the crackle polish and I never have. Magnetic polish is just meh to me. I've been in love with glitter for as long as I can remember, when it was 'in' and 'when' it was out. Some bloggers that can water marble do not stamp well, so we need both of you.
