Review: The Lady Varnishes (Part 1 of 2)

Hello!

I'm back today with three polishes from The Lady Varnishes...I've shown you her polishes before, and the brand is rapidly becoming one of my favorites. She has a wonderful eye for colors and glitter combinations, and I salivate lushly over her creations on a regular basis. :)

Today I have three polishes to show me that were sent for review, and next week I'll show you three more.

Let's start with Honor, a brick-rust-red crelly with a lilacy-blue shimmer, dark purple and iridescent glitter:

As a red lover, you know I'm gonna love this polish regardless. However, this is a truly special red that doesn't have that stereotypical red look--I think people who aren't normally big fans of red will love this, too. The purple glitter and the shimmer gives it a complex feel with flash, but it's still subtle; the glitter doesn't come out and whomp you over the head. It's bold, but delicate at the same time. :)

The formula on this was very good. Sometimes with her polishes I get a little bit of patchiness on the first coat if I spend too much time brushing it on; but even when that happens, everything evens out beautifully on the second coat. So if you get some of that when you put your first coat on, don't fret, all will be well. :)

Next is Steel Blue, a polish I showed you on Monday Blues last week, but which stands to be repeated so you don't miss it. This is a midnight blue jelly with periwinkle blue glitters all awash within:

This makes me think of a dark sea in the middle of a storm, with waves churning up surf and bubbles and sea creatures. This is only two coats, and it has so much depth! And I can't understnad how you can pack so much glitter into a polish and not have it look like a crazy glitter soup. The balance here creates a pleasing effect, rather than an over-the-top glitter bomb. Impressive. :)

And possibly the most interesting of the three, Mistress Of All Evil, a rich raisin-plum purple with a spray of teal, orange, and gold glitters that seem to shift colors:

There are not words to describe how much I love this polish--It makes my nails look like shining gems from every angle. The little surprising colors that peek out of it make it mysterious and add to the jewel effect--it gives it a lush feel of medieval jewelry. I have nothing else even close to this in my polish collection, not. even. close. It's simply majestic. :)

You can find The Lady Varnishes polish in her Etsy Shop, or her Big Cartel Store. Sometimes she has slightly different polishes on the two sites, but I imagine she'd make arrangements for you if you have selections from both shops that you want to purchase. She has so many different colors and styles, you can't help but find a ton of polishes to lust after. :)

I'll be back with three more of her lovelies in a few days...Hope you're having a great week!

Hugs and loves,
M.
