It Girl Nail Art: Review of new plates from new maker!!

Hello!

I love playing with new plates, especially when they come from new makers! Today I have the three very first plates from a new maker, It Girl Nail Art! Of course I made a video review showing the plates, discussing ideas for using them, and testing them out:

It Girl fashion plates are made here in the USA; the company is located in Tacoma, Washington. This is their first release; each plate can be purchased separately or in a pre-order bundle of three (through Aug 3rd). They will be releasing future plates every few months, and plan on expanding beyond plates as well.


Let's take a look at the stills of the plates:

 IG101 has a wonderful art deco influence--especially the second and third from the left on the top.

IG102 has geometric designs with some awesome visual illusions thrown in; not just the M.C. Escher-style blocks and all the diamond patterns, but see that one second from the left on the top row? Looks just like a maze pattern, right? Look what happens when you look at it from an angle:

That's right, all of a sudden you've got boxes and at another angle you've got a plaid-like pattern. How cool is that??

IG103 is my favorite of the three, with the fronds and swirls and intricate patterns...And look at the one second from the right on the bottom--how amazing is that?? Love, love love.

The flowered lace pattern in the upper right is a bit hard to see, so I did a close-up of that end for you--love the delicate pattern, so on trend right now with so much lace in current fashion.

You can sorta see in the images that the plates are not the normal highly-reflective metal that most stamping plates are made of; they are a burnished/brushed finish. This has no impact on the quality of the images and the stamping at all, and I think it's very pretty.

Each image is just a titch under 1" x 1", so you have plenty of room to cover your nail unless you have super long nails.

But, of course, the most important question is--how do they stamp? Let's take a look at a test from each plate:

You can see the details of the stamps shine through--I used a fast-drying polish on these and had no issues using them the first time I sat down to try. No shenanigans needed!

I was warned that plates 102 and 103 might need a second scrape because they're etched just slightly deeper than 101, but I didn't find that to be necessary. You may also have issues with fibers catching on the images for this reason (I didn't), if so, you can remove them by wiping your finger over them, or by using tape to pick them up.

So my overall impression of these plates: The quality of the plates themselves are excellent; they feel good in your hand, and the etchings are done well with the smallest of details wrought perfectly. They stamp well, and the designs are beautiful. I love that there are images on each plate that go well together so you can mix and match them to get a greater variety of manis out of them (like the arrow images on IG102).
