Review: Messy Mansion Valareign 03, 04 and MM75

(Press sample; affiliate links)

Hello!

I've got some Messy Mansion plates to show you today, and two of them are from a new line I've never seen before, called Valareign! All three of the plates have a rustic wine/vineyard/Tuscan sort of feel that I just adore.

Of course I made a video, and in addition to discussing possible ways to use the images, I also compare Valareign 03 and Valareign 04, which share some images but in small and large versions:

Let's take a look at the plates:

While Valareign 03 and 04 have some of the same images, they each have images that the others don't so this isn't a case of one plate just being a subset of the other.  There are some lacy floral images here that I love, and the fleur de lis image is fun. My favorite image, other than the grape-related ones that both share, is the one that looks a bit like a crest--so intricate and pretty. And I love the possibilities you get with the bar designs--great for French tips or for accent stripes.

Valareign 04 includes some triangular-shaped designs which are great for full-moon manicures; I'm also in love with the daisy image and the ivy image.

All of the images on these two plates are solid--so if you don't have the time or inclination to fill in your images, these are great for bold patterns. You can still play around with colors, and these are great for double-processed techiques.

To round out the review I selected Messy Mansion MM75, which has a related theme and some stylistic similarities, but goes further with the wine side of things:

Drunken Bacchus guy up at the top clearly has had a little too much fun, and I love the wine labels and bottles. If you are looking for grape/wine images you can lead-light or do reversed stamping with, this is the option you want to choose; these are great images to pull out your colors and paint, paint, paint.

Let's take a look at size, particularly the difference in size between the images on Valareign 03 (large) and Valareign 04 (small); first, the smaller images:

But do they stamp?? Oh, yeah, baby:

Take a look at these two images next to each other. You can see that on my nails, the larger image on Valareign 03 covers my nail completely, but the smaller image from 04 does not. But, the image from 04 is more compact, so it all depends on what level of detail you want and how big your nails are.

For my sample mani, I started with a base of Zoya Aster, from the 2016 spring Petals collection:

I stamped using Sally Hansen I-Rush Luck, and then went over the grapes with my dotting tool and Sally Hansen Going Grape:

I love how this looks like the tile work on the patio of some Tuscan villa...I want to sit outside and sip wine all afternoon long. Sigh...

You can find all of these awesome plates in Messy Mansion's store, and some of their plates are available on Amazon if that's easier for you. And don't forget to follow them on Facebook for news and updates.

Happy Stamping!

And I think you should definitely do such a tour of Tuscany, sitting out in the sun, sipping great wine and writing amazing stories. :)

  4. Thank you for the size comparison! I always wonder how big the images actually are, since I have bigger/longer nails and I want them to cover the whole nail with no naked space. And your mani is stunning!!

  5. your stamping is always so impressive. And I really appreciate the size comparisons. I always find that images are too short for my nails.
