Review: Winstonia Holly Jolly plate

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

Are you having a good holiday season so far? My Christmas tree is up and miraculously, my cats have not destroyed it so far. This is truly a Christmas miracle from cats who have been known to break the actual branches of the tree, not just the ornaments. :)

Today I'm going to carry on with the holiday joy with two manicures from Winstonia's new Holly Jolly Christmas stamping plate. I made a video of three of their winter/holiday plates that you can see here, including Holly Jolly Christmas:

Here's a shot of the plate:

This plate is just a banquet of images that are fun and versatile--almost every image on here can be stunning with even the easiest techniques, or can be elevated to the next level with more advanced techniques. There is so much you can do here, in one small plate!

This will give you as sense of how big the images are:

And of course, the important part is how well they stamp, and as you can see, the details stamp well:

For my first manicure, I was inspired by one of the accent nails I did for my Spellbound Nails Christmas 2016 review. I started with a base of Zoya Wyatt, then put on a coat of Spellbound Nails Christmas Morning. I stamped the light strand from Holly Jolly Christmas for the accent nail (with Girly Bits Silver Bells and White Wedding), and loved the Christmas tree feel it all gave, so I decided to continue on with the deconstructed Christmas tree look--so I stamped on the ornaments image also with Silver Bells--I used my clear stamper to split up the image so I could get the big ornament on different places on the nail:

I love how this turned out! I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about having he lights only on one nail, but I'm glad I took he risk--I think it really allows the beauty of the glitter to shine through while giving a really fun decorated tree look.

For my second manicure, I was inspired by the blocked poinsettia image, and wanted to see how it would look with the stripes-and-dots image. I started with a base of Spellbound Nails Merry & Bright, my favorite from her Christmas 2016 collection, then I stamped with Girly Bits Bronze Goddess. The result screamed out for matting for me:

I love the matted look for the holidays--I think because it reminds me of velvet, which reminds me of pretty holiday dresses. And I love how this bronze works with the deeper red to make a slightly antiqued look versus a typical bright Christmas red and gold.

  1. So many great holiday stamping plates out right now! I like the snowmen and wording ones most.

  2. That Spellbound polish is stunning!! I do like that you show the stamping over a bare nail. Messy or not, I'm a sucker for negative space manis so they always jump out at me even though it is just for testing.

  3. That warm wine manicure is so pretty and refined.
