Review: It Girl Nail Art IG202

(Press samples ahead!)

Hello!

Today I have a new plate to show you from It Girl Nail Art, IG202, filled with geometical wonders...Here's the video I made of it, along with two mini plates:

Let's take a closer look:

When I was a little girl, I always wanted a spirograph. My friend had one, and I loved it, but I never did get one for myself. Maybe because of that, I've always loved geometric designs with cool repeating patterns, especially those that have a mystical feel to them. In other words, this plate is my adult spirograph!

When you're thinking of ways to use this plate, pay special attention to the edges, and how they'll look at different angles on your nails. Also take a look at the shapes within the larger shapes, and how you can overlap images.

The images are all different sizes, so here's a shot with a ruler to help you get a feel for them:

And how does it stamp? It Girl Nail Art produces excellent plates, but fine-line images are always a challenge for any maker, especially when you use them with clear stampers, like I did when I tested it:

For fine lines, these are downright amazing. I did find that as with other images that have long, thin lines, little threads will pull up from your image if you don't make sure to press them down fully.

On to the sample manicures! For my first, I started with a base of Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer A Soul For Sale Or Rent (see my review here), then stamped with Messy Mansion Chalk:

This definitely has a mystical sci-fi sort of feel to me, and I love it! Like the mysteries of the universe are out there waiting on some space station.

For the second, I started with a base of Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer My Precious. I wanted to play up the blue shift in the duochrome glitter, so I stamped with Messy Mansion Hydrangea Blue and then Girly Bits Flame:

This manicure demonstrates what I mean about overlapping the designs. I double-stamped on the index and middle finger, and then stamped off-setting areas of the designs on the thumb and ring finger. Thank you, clear stampers.

Also, both designs show what I meant about looking at the edges of the images--there's way more than just one look you can create with each image depending on how you position it.

This plate is available now in It Girl Nail Art's Etsy store. While you're there, check out the new cuticle oil fragrances she has based on warm winter drinks:

-London Fog Tea: The barista's secret weapon for the tea-lover, a London Fog is earl gray, vanilla syrup, and steamed milk.
-Hot Chocolate: Creamy and sweet with rich cocoa, topped with lightly toasted marshmallow.
-Mulled Wine: Velvety red wine meets orange peel and traditional mulling spices.
-Chamomile Honey: Prized for its relaxing properties, chamomile has been used for centuries to ease stress and insomnia.
-Bourbon Hot Toddy: Before cold medicine, there was a good old hot toddy for the sniffles. With bourbon, bright citrus, and spices.
-Caramel Macchiato: Rich espresso and creamy steamed milk with buttery caramel.

I got to try a sample of the Chamomile Honey and the Caramel Macchiato, and they're both amazing--I wasn't sure I'd like the Chamomile Honey, but it's warm and soothing, and I may just be addicted now.

I'll be back soon to show you two of It Girl Nail Art's mini plates; in the meantime, you can find them on social media here:

Happy stamping!

  7. These images look like they stamp quite well. I wasn't sure after looking at the plate because it looks shallow, but your demo says otherwise.

    1. You definitely want to use plenty of polish and a gentle scrape with the fine lines, but no, I thought mine was etched fine and worked well. :)
