Hello!
Today I have the new Zoya Thrive spring 2018 collection to share with you, perfect to lift your spirits if you can't wait for spring to arrive:
Zoya Thrive spring 2018 collection |
First up is Zoya Brandi, a darkish-rose pink creme with a hint of smoke:

Coverage: 1-2 coats
Application: Excellent--Zoya has mastered the one-coat creme.
Brandi, you're a fine girl...what a good wife you would be...
Okay, now that I got that out of my system...this is a feminine, sophisticated, adult spring polish with a fresh feel when you aren't in the mood for pastel.
Next is Zoya Darby, a smoked robin's egg blue with a gorgeous turquoise shimmer:

Application: Excellent.
This turned out to be my favorite of the collection, which I did not expect. Something about the shimmer in this mesmerizes me--it's like a visual metaphor for spring skies, when showers alternate a stormy sky with a bright one--the shimmer peeks through bright and happy, and the smoky grayish blue is serene. The result is an elegant blue with a classy flash.
Then we have Zoya Haruko, an orchid with an icy lilac shimmer:

Coverage: 2 coats
Application: Good, although my ridges did show through a bit with two coats. You couldn't really tell IRL, but I'd use a ridge-filler base next time. You can see from my index and pinky that if you don't have annoying ridges like me, this applies perfectly.
OMG, this color! Haruko is the fairy princess of the collection--I want a frothy gown in this color, and I want to wear it with a tiara. This polish is young and full of joy.
Next up is Zoya Leisel, a purple-orange-rust duochrome:

Coverage: 3 coats
Application: Thin, but applies well.
When I hear the name 'Leisel', my mind always goes to The Sound of Music...and I can totally see Leisel wearing this while picking eidelweiss in the mountain meadows.
I needed three coats for coverage with this, but the end result was worth it. I didn't expect much of the duochrome to come through when I put on the first coat, but I was impressed by how much shift I got--the colors are subtle, but the shift is there. Definitely the spring version of a duochrome.
Then there's Zoya Monroe, a watermelon creme:

Application: Excellent
Something about this polish sends me to the 1920s and makes me want to drink gin while listening to a jazz band. It's the feisty chick in the collection, bold, energetic, and fun.
And finally, we have Zoya Trudith, a smoky orchid creme:

Coverage: 1-2 coats
Application: Excellent.
This is the quintessential Zoya spring polish, in my opinion. It falls in the traditional spring palette, but has a smokiness to it that gives it just a bit more sophistication than a full-on pastel has. It's flirty and gentle, but has character, too. This will be my go-to spring purple this year.
So what do I think overall? Zoya's last few collections have had quite a few pinks, so I was glad to see the lilac/orchids forming the basis of this collection. I think Monroe gives the collection spice, and I am completely obsessed with Darby. And excellent spring offering, I think!
You can buy these polishes now from Zoya's website, or anywhere else Zoya is sold. You can also find them on Amazon if that's easier for you.
Big hugs,
M. xoxo
