Before & After: Interference Lead-lighting

Hello!!

So you know I've been playing around with the lead-lighting technique, looking to see what I can do with darker colors. One thought that occurred to me was to try some colors that normally have interference properties over black or other dark colors...so let's see how that comes out!

I started with this beauty from LynBDesigns, In Charge Of Fun, a forest-green jelly with a gold to pinky-purple duochrome shimmer:

This makes my heart go pitter-patter. The only thing I wish is that it was a little more opaque; this is three coats and I do still have a little visible nail line in some lights. But it's still a stunner.

I chose my polishes to complement the purple shimmer in the polish; I picked two that are normally nearly see-through if used alone, Pure Ice Rio and Sinful Colors Let Me Go:

Next I stamped using Sally Hansen Silver Sweep, and Cheeky Jumbo Plate 4, then used my dotting tool to fill in the flowers with my polishes:

Pretty flowers everywhere

Pretty flowers in my hair

Pretty flowers on my nails

I love the look of this. The Rio is not an interference polish, so you can see how it looks like a lighter purple over the silver stamping and a darker purple over the green part of the flowers. Let Me Go is an interference polish and shows strongly blue over the darker color, while showing no color over the silver. So pretty!

So what do you think? Do you like the interference effect of Let Me Go? Would you like to see more experiments with interference lead-lighting?

Hugs,
M.

  15. I wish I was talented enough to make my nails all pretty too. I'm lucky if I get the polish on my nail and not all over my hands ;)

    1. Honestly, you could do something like this without too much practice. And I get the polish all over my cuticles and hands too--polish remover + make-up brush takes care of that! ;-)
