Spellbound Nails Harry Potter Book 4 Collection!

(Press samples ahead!)

Hello!

Today we're going to take a little sneak peek at an upcoming collection--Spellbound Nails' Harry Potter Book 4 Collection!

Spellbound Nails Harry Potter 4 Collection

Her Harry Potter collections are always a wonderful mix of glitters, crellies, and specialty polishes, and the way they celebrate the books always puts a smile on my face--and this collection is no exception.

Let's start with Spellbound Nails Beauxbatons, a sky-blue crelly filled with iridescent glitter as well as gold stars, bars, and hex:

Coverage: 2 coats
Application: Smooth and even. You'll need to fish for the stars, as always with bigger glitters.

This polish is inspired by the Beaubatons coat of arms, which shows crossed wands shooting starts. The combination gives it a subtle magical feel--it doesn't whomp you over the head with fairy dust, but has enough whimsy to it to make it innocent and fun. And that blue is such an excellent base for all sorts of nail art!

Next we have Spellbound Nails Durmstrang, a brick-leaning red holo with bronze glitters that flash red:

Coverage: 2 coats
Application: Like butter. :)

This polish is inspired by Durmstrang's blood-red robes and fur cloaks, and since I'm a red lover you know I adore this. The spray of holo gives this pop, and the glitters give it depth. This would make an awesome base for strawberry nails--perfect to wear for a picnic or other frolicking, as well as a gorgeous holiday color.

Next we have a glitter topper, Spellbound Nails Goblet of Fire, a mix of bronze, caramel, and copper glitter, along with gold flakies inspired by the goblet--and that glows bright blue in the dark, in honor of the goblet's blue flames:

Coverage: 1 coat
Application: Smooth and even.

I brushed on one coat over Spellbound Nails Milky Way. Every holiday mani could use a little extra glitz, and this topper delivers that, with shades that give a slightly antiqued feel.

Next we have another topper, Spellbound Nails Great Lake, packed with holographic shimmer and regular and holographic glitters in royal blue, emerald green, and turquoise--including mini hearts:

Coverage: 1 coat
Application: Smooth and even. There are plenty of hearts so you probably won't have to fish for them, unless you want a certain number.

This polish is inspired by the lake Harry and the others have to go into to recover their loved ones--I think this balance of glitters captures that underwater-lake feel, and I love the addition of the hearts to represent the people they have to save. I also love that the hearts are mini-hearts--they're subtle, they don't take over the look of the polish.

Next up is my favorite of the collection--Spellbound Nails Hungarian Horntail, a mossy-forest green holographic duochrome that flashes golden bronze:

Coverage: 2 coats
Application: Absolute perfection.

This polish is inspired by the dragon of its namesake, and while the dragon might not be pleasant, the polish is velvety and gorgeous. It's enchanted forests and vintage Christmas trees. There's just enough light to make it dance, and the flash of duocrhome makes it sing. Stunning.

Next we have Spellbound Nails Morsmordre, a black holo crelly with holographic green glitters:

Coverage: 2 coats
Application: Excellent!

Awesome holographic night-sky polish----yeeeeessssss!! Sigh. Me. Up. This one is inspired by the Dark Mark that appears over the World Cup, and is meant to look like emerald stars in a black sky. Mission accomplished--this makes me feel like I'm star-gazing in a jewel-encrusted galaxy. I also love the Slytherin feel this gives, with the green to it--but mostly, I'm just a sucker for galactic polish excellence, and this is it!

Finally, we have Spellbound Nails Priori Incantatem, a golden shimmer polish that glows lime green in the dark:

Coverage: 2 coats
Application: Smooth and even.

This polish is inspired by Harry and Voldemort's duel, and the glow honors the way the spells glowed when the brother wands came together to fight. I like that she went with a rich, antiqued shade of gold--maybe because it's the holiday season and I love the intersection of jewel-tones and antiqued shades (like Hungarian Horntail, above). This is 24 karat rather than 18--and you're worth it. ;-)

So what do I think overall--Ashley has a gift for distilling the essence of the Harry Potter books and putting them into polishes that return me to the fun of the books. As always, she's put together a nice range of colors and polish styles, so that in one seven-polish collection, you have something from just about any mood or outfit. The collection is a delight.

The polishes will be released at 12:01 am on Christmas morning--a little bonus for you on Christmas morning, after you've spent so much time and energy making the day special for everyone else. You'll be able to find them in her store, and don't forget to follow her around the interwebs for updates:

Happy polishing!
M.
