Review & Mani: UberChic Beauty Nautical mini plate

(Press samples ahead!)

Hello nail lovelies!

Hey, have I mentioned that I'm a hockey fan? Yep, that's right, I'm a die-hard San Jose Sharks fan, and tomorrow night is game 7 (the deciding game) of their second-round playoff series. Go Sharks!

(I think you'll see why I mentioned this in a minute...)

UberChic Beauty came out with some new plates last week, including two new mini plates. I made a video looking at both of them:

And today we're gonna take a look at the Nautical plate:

This is such a great plate for summer! Beach scenes and travel scenes, almost any vacation or weekend fun that involves water. There's so much to love here, but my absolute favorite is the large seashell--I can see this either shrunk down or left as-is and colored in with stripes of white and shades of coral with a little glitter thrown in. I love that the wave image has a little something different and extra with the little swirling waves inside the wave, and I love the coral images on their own, or as awesome background texture. And octopus tentacles!!! YES!!

Here's a look at how big the images are:

So how does it stamp? Excellent detail and coverage:

For my sample manicure, I started off with Zoya Muse, a lovely glittery blue polish with a green duochrome shimmer to it, perfect for any water-themed nail art:

Because of the Sharks' playoff game, I had to use the shark image. I shrank it down and made it into a decal, colored it in using the reversed-stamping technique.  I stamped it with Messy Mansion Sterling and colored it in with Messy Mansion Carbon and Chalk (I love that they don't smudge!!). I stamped all of the nails except the accent nail with the wave pattern using Chalk (because my shark is jumping out of the water, of course!). Finally, you can see from the logo that the sharks use an orange color for their accent color, seen on the shark's eye and stick:

Because of that, I decided to put a little bit of orange into my mani and I stamped the submarine image with Sally Hansen's Orange Zest:

May the force of Jo Paw-velski be with you!

I often test things out on my cinderella hand to see how it works; for my first attempt, I put the shark over the water:

I like it so I wanted to show it to you, but I do think you can see the shark better against the solid blue background. What do you think, do you have a preference?

You can find this plate on UberChic Beauty's website; it currently sells for $7.99. And don't forget to follow them on Facebook for updates about releases and sales!

Happy stamping,
M.

  5. I really love your nail art with the shark. I have a similar plate from Winstonia and Moyou London with these images, but it's nice to see another plate come out that's nautical themed
