Review: UberChic Beauty's Mother's Day mini plate (+ mani featuring Zoya Jordan!)

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

It's almost May--do you know where your Mother's Day gift is? And, do you have a cute mani to wear while you give/receive said gift?

If not, here's a plate that'll give you some options, UberChic Beauty's Mother's Day mini plate. You can see the video review I did of the plate here:

And here's a still shot of the plate:

The plate gives you a few full-nail images, a smattering of smaller images you can build patterns with, and of course a whole bunch of ways you can proclaim your love for your mother, or own how awesome a mom you are.

UberChic's full nail images are 17 x 21 mm, and here's a shot with a ruler so you can get a feel for the size of the rest of the images:

How does it stamp? Here are some test swatches, done with a clear stamper:

Pretty nice--I was particularly impressed by the lines on that rose!

For my manicure, I started with a base of Zoya Jordan. Then I stamped the roses with Messy Mansion Dogwood pink, and then double-stamped the words with Messy Mansion Chalk and then Soft Gold:

Review: messy Mansion Mosaic stamping polish collection

(Press samples ahead!)

Hello!

Messy Mansion just released a new set of stamping polishes, called the Mosaic collection, made up of six cremes with a slightly more muted palette:

Messy Mansion Misty Jade, Bisque, Summer Heat, Amalfi Coast, Heliotrope, Delft Blue
Messy Mansion Misty Jade, Bisque, Summer Heat, Amalfi Coast, Heliotrope, Delft Blue

Here's the video I made reviewing them, if you want to see them in full-motion action:

Let's start with a comparison of these cremes to the same color families in Messy Mansion's other collections.

First up, the peach/oranges, Bisque, Happy Now, and Summer Heat:

Messy Mansion Bisque, Happy Now, and Summer Heat
Messy Mansion Bisque, Happy Now, and Summer Heat

Bisque is a soft peach, and Summer Heat is a muted orange, almost like a terra cotta. Happy Now is the brightest of the bunch.

Next, the greens: Forest, Misty Jade, and Spring Green:

Messy Mansion Forest, Misty Jade, and Spring Green

Forest is a darker grassy green, Misty Jade is a minty pastel, and Spring Green has a more mossy feel.

Blues, anyone? Here's Hydrangea blue, Amalfi Coast, Delft Blue, Blue You A Kiss, and Spruce:

Messy Mansion Hydrangea Blue, Amalfi Coast, Delft Blue, Blue You A Kiss, and Spruce

Lotsa pretty blues here, from light to dark to green-leaning teal.

And then we have the luscious purples, Lilac, Heliotrope, and Royal Purple:

Messy Mansion Lilac, Heliotrope, Royal Purple

Pastel, bright, and deep--which reminds me of something. How cool would these be together for stamping gradients?! Put your polish on in stripes, scrape in the same direction, and stamp--and voila. I've had issues trying to do gradient stamping with polishes of different brands, because the formulas can scrape differently and dry differently--so I'm looking forward to trying this technique out with polishes from the same maker.

Okay, but the most important part is--how do these stamp, and how do they show up over light and bright colors?

Messy Mansion Bisque, Summer Heat, Misty Jade, Amalfi Coast, Heliotrope, and Delft Blue
Messy Mansion Bisque, Summer Heat, Misty Jade, Amalfi Coast, Heliotrope, and Delft Blue

The colors stamp well, and the colors show up beautifully--rich and opaque over both white and black, except for Deflt Blue, which doesn't show up too well over the black. Which isn't a surprise, since it's a pretty dark blue, and as you can see, if the light hits it right you can see it--but you do have to look for it.

And, the second most important issue for stamping polishes, or maybe even tied for first, is whether or not they smudge easily. I've never had an issue with smudging with any of Messy Mansion's polishes, so I didn't expect to have a problem with this batch. I tested them out with Seche Vite, and here's how they turned out:

Messy Mansion Bisque, Summer Heat, Misty Jade, Amalfi Coast, Heliotrope, and Delft Blue with topcoat
Messy Mansion Bisque, Summer Heat, Misty Jade, Amalfi Coast, Heliotrope, and Delft Blue with topcoat

Not. One. Single. Smudge. It looks like there's some smudging on Delft Blue, but if you look at the before picture, you'll see the same thing there--that's me applying the black polish on the swatching stick unevenly.

So what do I think of these polishes? I love the colors and think they add great variety to my collection. They stamp beautifully--the colors are strong and the stamping crisp--and they don't smudge. Messy Mansion continues to be an instant go-to when I'm looking for easy, quality stamping.

You can find these polishes in Messy Mansion's store, and you can follow them around the interwebs here:

But do they stamp?: Girly Bits Warrior Goddess collection

(Press samples ahead!)

Hello!

A while back I showed you this mani, which feature Girly Bits Warrior Goddess collection cremes as both base mani and stamping polish. This drove me to test and see if all of the polishes were stampable, and I found out they are! Take a look at this stamping awesomeness:

First up, Yes, We Can and Irreplaceable:

Girly Bits Yes, We Can and Irreplaceable over white and black
Girly Bits Yes, We Can and Irreplaceable over white and black

Yes, We Can stamped beautifully over white, and was faint over black. Irreplaceable stamped well over both.

Next, Denim & Diamonds and Ambition:

Girly Bits Denim & Diamonds and Ambition over white and black
Girly Bits Denim & Diamonds and Ambition over white and black

I love how well both of these show up over white--I have no stamping polishes with these muted shades--and Ambition even shows up over black!

And then we have Love Yourself First and Beautiful Soul:

Girly Bits Love Yourself First and Beautiful Soul over white and black
Girly Bits Love Yourself First and Beautiful Soul over white and black

Both of these show up over both colors, which is impressive, but the hue doesn't show up quite as distinctly over white.

So if you already have the polishes, pull 'em out and use 'em to stamp with, and if you were on the fence about getting them, here's another reason to snap 'em up!

Before & After: UberChic Beauty 15-02 + Zoya Amira + Hit The Bottle Polishes = Tropical spring!

(Press samples ahead!)

Hello!

Today I have a mani that's a little bit tropical, a little bit spring, and a little bit summer vacation. I started with Zoya Amira, from the spring 2017 Charming collection (can you tell I love this collection?):

Zoya Amira

Then I stamped the textured stripes and layering flowers from UberChic Beauty's plate 15-02:

I stamped the stripes with Hit The Bottle Lucky Spark, and the flowers first with A Rose By Any Other Name and then with To Have And To Gold (also available at Beautometry):

I love that this has a tropicl feel to it, but that it's muted--not quite as in-your-face as the colors I'd choose for a summer version. And how gorgeous is that holo stamping polish! I chose a subtle color combination so the background wouldn't overwhelm the flowers, but that holo holds its own just the right amount. Gorgeous.

You can find the plate in UberChic Beauty's store, and can also find them kickin' it around the internet:

Also, if you love all things UberChic, be sure to keep an eye on my YouTube channel--I put up my video reviews there before I blog them, so if you're in a hurry to see the awesomeness, that'll give you a head start!

Review: Messy Mansion Leadlight Lacquer plate A07

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

Today I have a lovely floral plate to share with you: Messy Mansion Leadlight Lacquer plate A07. 😃 Here's the video review I did with the plate:

And here's a closer look at the plate:

Leadlight Lacquer A07
Leadlight Lacquer A07

This is so flirty and feminine and delicate--from the flowing tulips all the way to the lion medallion.

The images are all different sizes, so here's a shot with both centimeters and inches so you can get a feel for whether the sizes work for you:

How does the plate stamp? Here are the test swatches, done with a clear stamper:

With the finer-line images and clear stampers, I recommend using a generous amount of polish, and using a gentle swatch, since those types of image can be a little more finicky with clear stampers.

For my mani, I started with a base of Zoya Lacey, one of my favorite polishes this season, then double-stamped the tulip image first with Messy Mansion Lilac, then with Messy Mansion Royal Purple:

Leadlight Lacquer A07 over Zoya Lacey, stamped with Messy Mansion Lilac & Royal Purple

I'm so happy with how this combination of colors came out! This has such a feminine, spring feel, I could wear it all season long. 🌷🌷🌷

You can find the plate, the polishes, and the clear stamper all in Messy Mansion's store, and you can find many of their products on Amazon if that's easier for you. You can also find them around the interwebs here:

Review: Sally Hansen's color of the moment Miracle Gel Tipsy Gypsy and Electric Pop

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

I've been a big fan of Sally Hansen's polishes for years, so I was delighted to be asked to review some of their color of the moment polishes, Tipsy Gypsy and Electric Pop Miracle Gel shades, along with the Miracle Gel topcoat.

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel polishes in Tipsy Gypsy and Electric Pop
Sally Hansen Miracle Gel polishes in Tipsy Gypsy and Electric Pop

I did two nail art manis with the polishes; for the first, I did a sort of funky French mani with chevron stripes:

And for the second I freehanded some hearts:

I've never used a gel polish of any sort before because I change my manicures so often--it just doesn't make sense for me to worry about curing a polish for long-term wear when I'm going to remove it in two days. But, of course there are times like vacation when I want to have that long term wear, so I figured these polishes might be a cool way to get a no-fuss long-term mani. The bottles say you get up to 14 days of wear with the Miracle Gel system.

I followed the instructions--two coats of polish followed by one coat of the topcoat, which cures with regular light (no special equipment needed). I did find this took a bit longer than my normal Seche Vite to dry enough that I didn't have to worry about dinging my manicure--but only about ten minutes more. And, this isn't about fast-dry, it's about long wear!

So did it wear well? I'm very hard on my nails--I spend a lot of my day typing, and even thought I know I'm not supposed to, I tend to use my nail as tools way too much. With normal polish, if I go more than two days without a chip, I'm impressed. So I was very pleased when I went six days without any sort of serious chip with these polishes. For me, that more than doubled the normal life of my polish, and I'd definitely use this line for vacations and the like.

You can find these polishes anywhere you buy Sally Hansen (around me, that means drugstores like CVS, Walgreen, and superstores like Target, etc.), as well as their associated online stores. You can also find the Miracle Gel line and other Sally Hansen products on Amazon, if that's easier for you. And here's where you can follow them around the interwebs:

Happy polishing!

Review: UberChic Beauty Collection 15!

(Press samples ahead!)

Hello!

These last few weeks have been one thing after another for me, and right now I have a nasty cold! So I apologize that I haven't been posting as much as I normally do, and hope to get back to my rhythm soon. Today I'm going to show you UberChic Beauty Collection 15, and I have collections 16 and 17 on the way, as well as the new texture and unicorn plates--if you want the very first look at them, you might want to give my YouTube channel a look, because the videos always go up before the blog posts. Here's the video review of collection 15:

And here are the shots of the plates:

UberChic Beauty plate 15-01

Plate 15-01: Love those layering chevrons and all the geometrics and those adorable little birdies! But my very favorite on this plate is the negative space flowers--I'll be using that one down below.

UberChic Beauty plate 15-02

Look at all the texture images she snuck onto plate 15-02!! And sooo many beautiful types of flowers. But my very favorite is the diamond mosaic-type pattern at the bottom left. Love.

Layering flowers and doodles and henna and squares and beautiful rosettes! My very fav on this plate is the beehive image with the different thinknesses. A nice twist on a classic. :)

The full nail images on the plates are 17 x 21 mm, and the plates are 9.5 x 14.5 cm total. Here's a shot with a ruler if you think more in inches like me, and to give you a feel for the size of the rest of the images:

And how do they stamp? Take a look at these swatches:

All of these were done with a clear stamper--pretty impressive!

For my manicure with plate 15-01, I wanted to use the negative space flower image, because I recently received the gorgeous holo that is Girly Bits All Bronze No Brains and I'm always telling you how great negative space images are for letting your holos shine! I stamped the design with Girly Bits Coral Reef:
