SBS: Supernatural Lacquer Ghost of Christmas Present

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

If you haven't heard of it, SBS = Small Business Saturday, and the purpose of it is to give small businesses a chance to not fade away in the madness of Black Friday, to remind everyone to support the small businesses that are at the heart of our country and our lives. :)

Supernatural Lacquer is releasing several polishes for Small Business Saturday, at special prices that will be good for that day only. I have one to show you today, and it's a beauty...

Here's Supernatural Lacquer Ghost of Christmas Present,  an antique gold micro glitter pigment base with magenta/green/gold aurora shift, purple/red/gold colorshifting flakes, purple/red/gold UCC glakes, and gold micro holo shred and glitter (did you get all of that?!):

Coverage: 2-3 coats; I'm wearing three
Formula: Smooth and perfect and awesome buildability

Holo. Durochrome. Flakes. Yeah, you had me right there, but there's something about the mixture of these that feels like holiday fairy dust to me. It's one of those magical polishes that just make your nails feel extra extra.

The second I saw it, I knew I had to test it over black undies, and I love it that way, too--here's one coat over undies:

That feels like gorgeous jewels crushed directly over your nails, and it has such a vintage holiday look. :)

Because of that, I decided to do a set of matching vintage Christmas looks with the undies/no undies versions; both of these use UberChic Beauty Moroccan Delight plate, the first with Kaleidoscope Black, the second with Moyra Gold:

Which way do you like it better? With undies, or without?

Supernatural Lacquer Ghost of Christmas Present goes on sale on Small Business Saturday (Nov. 24th, 1pm EST), and will be $9 for that sale only--after, the price will go up to $12. Plus, there will be a bunch of other polishes also discounted for that sale only, so don't forget to check it out! In the meantime, you can follow Supernatural Lacquer around the interwebs here:

Here's the video review I did of the plate:

And here's a closer look:

Dixie Plates Cute Animals 01

Kitties and dachsunds and sheep, oh my!

Here are the swatechs I did in the video:

And here are a couple manis I did with the plate:

Dixie Plates Cute Animals  and Textures & Patterns 01 over Girly Bits Rust In The Wind

For that look, I started with a base of Girly Bits Rust In The Wind, and I stamped with Girly Bits Rust In The Wind, White Wedding, and Little Black Dress. I used both the Cute Animals 01 plate, and Dixie Plates Textures & Patterns 01 plate.

For the next look I started with a base of Girly Bits Just The Flax, Ma'am, and stamped with Sally Hansen Racing Rose and Grease Lightning (same two plates):

Dixie Plates Cute Animals  and Textures & Patterns 01 over Girly Bits Rust In The Wind

I also wanted to use these two manis to show how great texture/pattern images are for layering under other images. :) I hope these give you some great ideas!

You can find this plate on sale now in Dixie Plates' store, and if you're in the US or Canada, at Lantern & Wren.

Stella Chroma LE Holiday Duo!

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

There's a nip in the air and turkey's on sale everywhere, which can mean only one thing--it's almost time for Black Friday sales!!

Stella Chroma has several holiday sets that are going to be released on Black Friday, and of course there will be a sale involved...

So today I'm gonna show you the first of three sets that will be going on sale on Black Friday--here's the Stella Chroma Limited Edition Holiday Duo:

First we have Stella Chroma Rosé til Champagne, is a luxurious rose gold metallic foil with silver flakes:

Coverage: two coats
Formula: Excellent. Great application, fast dry time.

This is a polish that can function as a neutral (blush is so on-trend for a neutral still), but still have plenty of holiday cheer to it--those silver flakes are ev-er-y-thing. This is bling, while still maintaining pure sophistication.

The second polish in the duo is Stella Chroma Merlot Ho Ho, a deep burgundy scattered holo:

Coverage: two coats
Formula: Excellent--applies like butter. Great application, fast dry time. No staining!

Okay, you guys know me well enough to know I'd crawl though insect infested caves to get at this polish. This is such a perfect holiday polish--this is mulled wine and cranberry sauce (the good kind your grandmother cooked down for a couple of hours to make all those flavors lush) and diamond necklaces in gorgeous wrapping paper. Just YES.

Since this is a holiday duo, I thought I'd try out a little holiday nail art with it...I think every girl deserves to have rose gold jingle bells:

And I thought a little filigree would be beautiful over that gorgeous holo:

Both of these images are on UberChic Beauty's Happy Christmas plate; the first with Kaleidoscope Black, the second with Moyra Gold.

This duo will be available in Stella Chroma's store on Black Friday at noon EST; you can purchase each separately for $13 or the set for $24. And, from Black Friday--Cyber Monday, she's offering free domestic shipping with any purchase of $25 or more--no code required. She'll also give a free upgrade to domestic priority shipping from Dec. 14-19, since the 19th is the last day to ship in time for Christmas.

And a portion of the proceeds of all the polishes that Stella Chroma sells during the last quarter of 2018 will be donated to GirlStart, a non-profit based in Austin, Texas that helps young girls develop interests in STEM.

And in the meantime, you can find Stella Chroma all over the interwebs:

The Digit-al Dozen Looks Up, Day 5: It's Beginning To Look A Little Like Christmas...

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

Today's the last day of The Digit-al Dozen's "Look Up" theme, and I'm sorry to see it go--it's been interesting to think about what I see throughout my day when I look up, or, rather to realize I don't spend enough time looking up. Pretty much the only time I do is when I'm walking my dog--and realizing that has made me very thankful for that time, and resolved to spend more time taking in what's around me.

So, here's a last look at what I've seen on my walks--I've noticed quite a few people this week have started to put up their holiday lights. They aren't lighting them yet--but they're getting a jump on things, and I'm seeing quite a few strands hanging there biding their time. ;-) So I thought I'd do a mani of non-lit lights in the process of going up...

UberChic Beauty Happy Christmas over Zoya Hannah

For this mani I started with a base of Zoya Hannah, then sponged some Girly Bits Irreplaceable over the bricks to give them a more textured feel. Then I stamped my bricks with UberChic Beauty Texturelicious 02 and Girly Bits Little Black Dress; then I stamped the light strands with UberChic Beauty Happy Christmas and Girly Bits Silver Bells and White Wedding.

So--what do you see when you look up?

Have a great weekend, and don't forget to check out what the other ladies did, linked below. :)

Big hugs,
M. xoxo

The Digit-al Dozen Looks Up, Day 4: Crows!

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

Welcome back to Day 4 of The Digit-al Dozen's "Look Up" theme! During fall, when I take my dog for a walk, I tend to see lots of crows. I'm sure they're there all year long, but they have a very 'fall' feel to me, maybe because of Halloween? So I notice them more...whatever the reason, I figured, crows are definitely one of the things I see when I look up.

For this manicure, I used an upcoming plate from It Girl Nail Art, IG314:

It Girl Nail Art IG314

(I apologize the picture isn't as good as my usual pics, the finish just did not want to cooperate!)

I stamped over Stella Chroma Flannel & Boots, with Girly Bits Little Black Dress:

It Girl Nail Art IG314 over Stella Chroma Flannel & Boots

I wanted to capture the magic of that moment when a flock of birds take off...although, did you know a group of crows is called a 'murder'? Totally true. So now I have to share my favorite stupid joke with you...If a group of crows is called a murder, what do you call a single crow? (**answer at bottom of post).

This plate will be on sale in the It Girl Nail Art store in time to complement the limited edition plate Nicole is putting out for this month's PPU--you can buy this plate separately after PPU, but if you buy the limited edition plate during PPU, you'll get a coupon to get this plate free with any $25 purchase. More information on that one in a future post!

I'll be back tomorrow with my final 'Look Up' mani, and in the meantime, check out what the other ladies did below! :)

Big hugs,
M. xoxo

(**Attempted murder. Hahahahahahhaaaahahahaaa)

The Digit-al Dozen "Look Up" Day 3

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

So...Polish is my happy place, and I generally like to keep my posts happy because of that. But I couldn't ignore the fact that the "Look Up" theme just happened to coincide with a time when, when I look up, I see something really, really bad.

Normally in my city, when you look up over the horizon, you see hills. But right now, you see nothing but haze, because the air is filled with ash and smoke from the California wildfires--the closest of which is 80 miles from my house--that shows you how serious these fires are. It looks something like this:

As of right now, 45 people are confirmed dead, with many more still missing, and 150,000 have been displaced. That would be horrible any time of the year, but this is happening right before the holidays.

So I don't often do this sort of thing, but if you have even a dollar you can spare, please consider sending it to The Red Cross, who is currently doing all they can to help these victims, and who help all sorts of other people facing all sorts of natural disasters.

I created this design with Girly Bits Forget Me? Not!, stamped the mountains from UberChic Beauty's Woodland Chic, and sponged with Girly Bits Just The Flax, Ma'am, and Irreplaceable.

Big hugs,
M. xoxo
