My Stunning Nails Tinker Bell's Triumph

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

How's your holiday season going? Have you crossed off most of your to-do list? I have NOT. We'll just leave it at that, hehe. ;-)

Today we're going to take a look at My Stunning Nails' Tinker Bell's Triumph, Lisa's contribution to January's Polish Pick Up:

My Stunning Nails Tinker Bell's Triumph

My Stunning Nails Tinker Bell's Triumph

My Stunning Nails Tinker Bell's Triumph

My Stunning Nails Tinker Bell's Triumph

My Stunning Nails Tinker Bell's Triumph

Coverage: I'm wearing two coats plus topcoat
Formula: Good. I had a little pulling on the first coat, but it evened out perfectly with the second.
Finish: Shimmer crelly
Other: Dry time was average, and wear time was excellent--I actually got to wear this for more than a day, and loved it!

Tinker Bell's Triumph is an avocado green shimmer with a spray of multicolored holo glitter that looks just like the pretty dress she wears has been sprinkled with her own pixie dust. I think this is a genius color for a winter polish--it's a modern green that works beautifully for Christmas, but transitions into the rest of winter and into spring pastels beautifully. To show off that side of the versatility, I did a little sweater-weather nail art with it:

Dixie Plates Sweater Weather 01 over My Stunning Nails Tinker Bell's Triumph

This is stamped with Dixie Plates Sweater Weather 01, using Messy Mansion Banana Bender and Blue You A Kiss.

You can buy this polish during January's Polish Pickup Sale, from Jan. 4th to Jan. 7th. And in the meantime, check out My Stunning Nails' shop--she has lots of cool stuff in addition to polish, including soaps, bath salts, and stickers!

Big holiday hugs,
M. xoxo

The Digit-al Dozen Day 1 and 5: Unicorns + Holo = Awesome!

(Press samples ahead!)

Hello!

So today's the final day of The Digit-al Dozen's Holo theme, and since I missed day 1, I decided to do two manis with holo in this post...plus a bonus third mani...;-)

For these manis, I used My Mani Box's August box. If you aren't familiar with My Mani Box, it's a curated mystery box for nail stamping fanatics that you can buy just one time or get on a subscription basis. You get at least two plates, a polish or another equivalent value item, and several nail art accessories. If you buy just one box, the cost is $35, and if you get a subscription, the cost drops according to the length of time you sign up for.

You can't buy past kits, but to show you what type of stuff you get, here's a look at the contents of the August box, which had a unicorn theme:

Contents:
Danglefoot What's Your Unicorn Name scattered holo polish (exclusive to the box)
MoYou London Hipster Collection 23
MoYou London Hipster Collection 24
1 Coupon for a free polish through Beautometry
2 pots diamond glitters
2 striping tapes
1 set unicorn nail wraps
1 "What's your unicorn name" activity sheet

For a more in-depth look at the contents, check out the video review I did:

Here's a close-up of the two plates that came in the box, which I used for my manis:

For my first mani, I started with a base of the polish that came with the kit, Danglefoot Polish What's Your Unicorn Name, and I stamped with Moyra Silver, and filled in my unicorns with Wikkid Polish Satin Blue, (coming soon to Lantern & Wren):

For my second mani, I went an alternate holo route--holo glitter! I layered Spellbound Nails Hem, Hem over Metamorphmagus, then stamped with Moyra Silver, using MoYou London 24:

And for my final mani, I started with a base of Spellbound Nails Prophecy, and stamped with Moyra Silver and Kaleidoscope White, with MoYou London Hipster 23:

So, what do I think about the box? Like the others I've reviewed (click here to see June's box, and here to see May's box), I think this is an excellent value for your money. The only question is whether or not you're the sort of person who likes to be surprised (I am definitely that sort of person!). If you aren't, probably any sort of surprise-based box like this doesn't work for you. But if you are, you can rest assured you'll get an selection of quality up-to-date items in hot themes.

And, that's it for Holo week! Do you have a favorite of the holo manis I did this week?

Big hugs,
M. xoxo

The Digital Dozen Does Holo Day 4: Dance To The Music

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

Welcome to day four of The Digit-al Dozen's Holo theme! Today I decided to double the fun by doubling the holo--by stamping holo on holo.

For this manicure, I started with a base of Spellbound Nails House of Black, and then stamped images from Lantern & Wren's Dance To The Music plate, with Hit The Bottle Polish Holo There Beautiful, and Kaleidoscope White polish:

I don't know about you, but this makes me want to dance--too bad I can't dance anywhere near as well as those ladies do. I look far more like Elaine Benes...

I'll be back tomorrow for the finale of Holo week (spoiler: there may be more than one holo mani to make up for me missing day 1), and in the meantime, check out what the other ladies did below!

Big hugs,
M. xoxo

The Digit-al Dozen Does Holo, Day 3: Sweater Weather

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

Today's day three of The Digit-al Dozen's Holo theme, and I'm back with a little more holo stamping nail art, this time featuring two of Dixie Plates three new holiday/winter plates:

Dixie Plates Christmas 2018

Dixie Plates Let It Snow

Dixie Plates Sweater Weather 01

The quality is excellent as always, and I love how she has a little twist on winter icons to make them new again. For my full review of these plates, check out the video review I did:

And here are some swatches I did with the plates:

But, on to the holo mani! I started with a base of The Lady Varnishes The Red Death, and stamped with Girly Bits Cosmetics White Wedding:

I don't know about you, but I would TOTALLY wear that sweater. ;-)

You can buy these plates now from Dixie Plates' webstore, or if you're in the US and Canada, from Lantern & Wren.

I'll be back tomorrow with some more holo goodness...in the meantime, check out what the other ladies did, linked below.

The Digit-al Dozen does Holo, Day 2: Easy Holiday Holo Elegance

(Press samples ahead!)

Hello!

This month's theme for The Digit-al Dozen is holo, which is a theme I can definitely get behind! A week filled with holo? Yes. Please.

To kick things off, I'm going to show you a mani I wore yesterday. A friend and I did something I've wanted to do my whole life--we went to high tea at the Ritz-Carlton, to celebrate my publishing contract, and her second book. I knew this week's theme was holo, but I have to admit, I would have gone holo regardless...

The base of the mani is Stella Chroma Merlot Ho Ho (which perfectly matched my dress), and Moonflower Polish Diamante; then I stamped a simple accent nail with Lantern & Wren's Joy To The World Plate, with Kaleidoscope Black stamping polish (also from Lantern & Wren). Here's how it came out:

I try to keep my stamping simple when I want to show off holo polishes, or choose images with large empty spaces. I love how elegant this came out--very nice for the holidays without knocking you over with Christmas. What do you think?

I'll be back tomorrow with more holo stamping goodness, and in the meantime, don't forget to check out the other ladies' manicures, linked below. :)

Big hugs,
M. xoxo

Lantern & Wren's Joy To The World Plate

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

Lantern & Wren just released another new plate, this one with a holiday theme, their Joy To The World Plate! Here's the video review I did of the plate:

And let's take a closer look:

Lantern & Wren Joy To The World

Lots of fun seasonal images here, including a few layering images, and a whole fleet of rein-animals! My personal favorite? That starburst in the second row. :)

Here are the swatches I did:

Now on to the manis! For the first, I started with a base of Spellbound Nails I Must Not Tell Lies, and tamped with Messy Mansion Forest and Red-y Or Not:

For the next one, I wanted to go sophisticated and elegant. I started with a base of Stella Chroma's limited edition holiday duo (still available1), Stella Chroma Rose Til Champagne and Merlot Ho Ho Ho:

And finally, I just had to play with the namesake 'Joy' candy canes! For this one I started with a base of Spellbound Nails Metamorphmagus, and then added some Spellbound Nails Hem, Hem. The I reversed stamped my images with Girly Bits Cosmetics White Wedding and Fire Engine Red:

Oh, and since Spellbound Nails Metamorphmagus glows in the dark, check this out!

Lantern & Wren has launched a line of plates!

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

Have you guys heard? Lantern & Wren has launched a line of plates! And I'm gonna show them to you today. :)

I did a live stream of the plates the night they released, but as often happens with live video, the resolution is not great. I'll be putting up a super-quick video for each plate but if you want to see what you can glean from the live version, you can check it out here.

Let's take a look! Her initial release was of six plates in a variety of themes that cover the whole year. I'll show you each plate, and then show you three swatches I did with the plate.

Let's start with Lantern & Wren All Things Spring, Carleigh's spring-themed plate:

Lantern & Wren All Things Spring

Flowers and rain and birdies and bees! Notice she has included some layering images to help you with do art that looks complicated but is really super easy. She packs the plates full so you get big bang for your buck.

In terms of quality, I found that all of the plates stamped easily and well, even with my clear stamper. All of the swatches I show here were done with my clear stamper. The only issue I had was for some of the busier images, when I cleaned the plate, fibers from my cotton pads would stick to the etching but that just happens with plates sometimes, and it's easy to get the fibers off by touching some scotch tape to the image.

Here are the swatches I did with this plate:

Next we have Lantern & Wren Dance To The Music:

Lantern & Wren Dance To The Music

Music, party, dance! Here are the swatches I did with this plate:

Next is Lantern & Wren Backgrounds:

Lantern & Wren Backgrounds

This plate will make great manis all of its own, but don't forget to layer these images with other images! For example, in my swatches below, image having beautiful flowers over the first one, bees crawling across the second one, and a little Alice falling down the black hole of the third:

Then we have Lantern & Wren Feline Like Spring:

Lantern & Wren Feline Like Spring

This plate is a clever mash-up of cats and spring images, including cats only, spring only, and combo images, like the one where the cats' tails swirl out into flowers. There's plenty here to use as your backgrounds for your cats, or to mix and match for skittle-type manis. Here are my swatches:

Next up is Lantern & Wren Finally Fall:

Lantern & Wren Finally Fall

This features fall images, with a few Halloween images thrown in for good measure (and in my opinion, it's always good measure, hehe!) Here are my swatches--I made sure to test out a couple of the layering images for you here:

And then last, but certainly not least, we have Lantern & Wren Girls Just Want To Have Sun:

Lantern & Wren Girls Just Want To Have Sun

This one preps you for tons of summer fun, from ice-cream to surfing. And don't forget about the awesome textures in that turtle...Here are my swatches:

All of these are available now in Lantern & Wren's store...and there maybe might just be a holiday-themed one there, too...

And for tons of inspiration, follow Lantern & Wren around the interwebs, here:

M. xoxo
