So you know I've been playing around with the lead-lighting technique, looking to see what I can do with darker colors. One thought that occurred to me was to try some colors that normally have interference properties over black or other dark colors...so let's see how that comes out!
I started with this beauty from LynBDesigns, In Charge Of Fun, a forest-green jelly with a gold to pinky-purple duochrome shimmer:

This makes my heart go pitter-patter. The only thing I wish is that it was a little more opaque; this is three coats and I do still have a little visible nail line in some lights. But it's still a stunner.
I chose my polishes to complement the purple shimmer in the polish; I picked two that are normally nearly see-through if used alone, Pure Ice Rio and Sinful Colors Let Me Go:
Next I stamped using Sally Hansen Silver Sweep, and Cheeky Jumbo Plate 4, then used my dotting tool to fill in the flowers with my polishes:

Pretty flowers on my nails |
I love the look of this. The Rio is not an interference polish, so you can see how it looks like a lighter purple over the silver stamping and a darker purple over the green part of the flowers. Let Me Go is an interference polish and shows strongly blue over the darker color, while showing no color over the silver. So pretty!
So what do you think? Do you like the interference effect of Let Me Go? Would you like to see more experiments with interference lead-lighting?
Hugs,
M.
Awesome lead lighting design. I like that green base too.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that an awesome polish? I've never seen anything like it anywhere else...:)
DeleteWow, this looks amazing! I love the base colour and the leadlighting worked really well over it :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm gonna play with interference polishes a little more. :)
DeleteI love LynBDesign polishes, she's got such great formulas and colors.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cool idea, and beautiful mani!! I'm definitely going to have to try this out.
She really does. And thank you!! :)
DeleteSuch pretty flowers! :) A neat idea, and even better end result. Would love to see more.
ReplyDeleteYou asked for it, you got it!! Will do. ;-)
DeleteYou clever minx...me likey!
ReplyDeleteAww, thank you!! Hugs. <3
DeleteGorgeous! All of it! Those colors look amazing together, and I also have added another polish to my wishlist. <3 :)
ReplyDeleteDarling, why should you buy it when you can just steal it out of my drawer while I sleep?? :P
DeleteThe doggie bit me the last time I tried that. She's very well trained. ;)
DeleteShe knows how I am about my polish!! :)
DeleteThat green polish is very unique! Your nail art looks great.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. :)
DeleteYour nail art is the bomb! You make it look very easy, which only tells me that it's probably not. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThis one's not bad, really. Some of them are tough, but this one is intermediate, I think, lol. And thank you!! :)
DeleteSo pretty! I wish I was this good at doing my nails.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. :)
DeleteI love the pretty flower accent too!
ReplyDeleteThank you thank you!! :)
DeleteI've never tried a green nail polish, but it looks so cute!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Green is a little out there for some people, I know, but I love it. :)
DeleteWow those flowers are so pretty. I am in need of doing my nails.
ReplyDeletepretty colors! The green is very fall like.
ReplyDeleteIt is! It has a nice foresty feel. :)
DeleteI love how the green really catches the light. So pretty.
ReplyDeleteI agree. She makes really pretty polishes. :)
Deletegorgeous gorgeous!! this green is so unique and pretty!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
DeleteI wish I was talented enough to make my nails all pretty too. I'm lucky if I get the polish on my nail and not all over my hands ;)
ReplyDeleteHonestly, you could do something like this without too much practice. And I get the polish all over my cuticles and hands too--polish remover + make-up brush takes care of that! ;-)
DeleteThis has such a cool effect. I have no patience for fancy nails, haha.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I know what you mean. :)
DeleteI'm not the biggest fan of green nails, but I do love that nail art!
ReplyDeleteGreen is definitely not everybody's cup of tea. For the longest time I wasn't a big fan of it myself...:)
DeleteYou make me want to change my nail polish every day!
ReplyDeleteCome to the dark side...join us...nail fanatics welcome you...heheheheheheheeee
DeleteWhoa, that's a lot of fancy work going on there girl. I love green, one of my favorite colors.
ReplyDeleteThank you!! I also love green...sigh...:)
DeleteThat green looks fab on you. Great work
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! :)
DeleteVery cute. I wish I had a steady enough hand to do my own nail art. I look like a 3 year old does my nails most of the time haha!
ReplyDeleteROFL!! I have that problem when I do free-hand nail art sometimes. Especially when I have too much coffee...
DeleteThats so neat!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
DeleteI love that green colour.
ReplyDeleteShe made a great one there, didn't she??
DeleteI think the interference effect looks super cool! I've never seen this before but I like it!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! When I see a technique I like, I have to get all crazy with it, lol. :)
DeleteI'd love to hear more about interference lead lighting as this was my first time hearing of it!
ReplyDeleteOkay, cool--I have another manicure with this I'm working on, there are so many possibilities!
DeleteGreen is a pretty daring colour - looks fab though and I love the flower design on the nails!
ReplyDeleteKatie <3
It is, this is true. Definitely not a job interview color, lol!
DeleteThat's an interesting green. How did you get such perfect flowers! That's amazing!
ReplyDeleteNail stamping! If I do it by hand, it's crazy messy, lol. It's just like rubber stamping, but with stuff made for nails. :)
DeleteThose are some fierce nails! That is awesome. I wish I was better at that kind of thing.
ReplyDeleteI bet you are. It's totally easier than it looks. :)
DeleteVery cute manicure!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
DeleteSuch a gorgeous and unique color!
ReplyDeleteYes!! I have never seen another polish like it, and I've seen *a ton* of polish. :)
DeleteI'm always amazed how beautiful a job you do on nails! I have a hard enough time keeping my cuticles in check.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I struggle with that, too. I have to use cuticle remover at least 2x a week and cuticle balm all the time...
DeleteWhat a beautiful and unique manicure! I'd love to have you come do my nails :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to come do them for you if I could! And while I was there, I'd sit and sigh over all your cute outfits...sigh...:)
Deleteoh my goodness i love this mani!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!!
DeleteI am a mani obsessed, your nails look amazing greatly done.
ReplyDeleteThank you thank you!! :)
