I recently told you about my nostalgic foray into Sally Hansen Nail Prisms from the late 80s/early 90s, made possible by Inky Whisker's Musings, who told me about this eBay site that specializes in discontinued drugstore polishes. I mentioned that one of the polishes I got was everything I expected, and more...and I'm back to show you that polish and some nail art.
I give to you the magical Scarlet Ruby, a red-orange-purple multichrome that minstrel songs should be written about:

Wow. Just...wow wow wow. Where have you been all my life, beautiful polish? That's right, I owned you, I used you up, and then you languished in somebody's storage locker somewhere after being discontinued until someone found you and started selling you on eBay.
I thought long and hard about what to do with her that would celebrate her majesty, rather than cover it. I decided to stamp on her using MoYou London's Artist collection plate 04, and two polishes; I used Barry M Gold Foil and Kleancolor Metallic Orange. Then, I tried out these plastic 'rhinestones' that KKcenterHk sent me for review:

I love the coffee color of these and was interested to see how much of the rhinestone-like cut on them would hold up in a manicure. The worked wonderfully, very cute! Now I want to try all of their matte colors, lol. Also, they gave me a code for 10% off of your full purchase for all of my readers, just use the code 'lacquerorleaveher', it's good through the end of the year. :)
So how did it come out?? Here's the final look:

What do you think? I think this polish definitely qualifies for the 'prettiest' untried in my pile, which is the theme of today Glittah Pirates Neverending Pile challenge. :)
That's a pretty color. I used to own some of those Sally Hansen ones but I sold them back when I wasn't that really into nail polish. I love the stamping you did on top.
ReplyDeleteI still have Amber Ruby, and was actually smart enough to buy a back-up of that one. Wish I'd been smart enough to do that with the others, lol, but it was also well before my polish obsessed days. :)
DeleteBeautiful stamping! :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous stamping and i love how the rhinestones add dimention :)
ReplyDeleteCame back to look at it one more time, and I am just blown away how gorgeous that polish is.
DeleteThank you thank you! It really is gorgeous, and it can be yours! I'm pretty sure he has more. :)
DeleteBeautiful! I have Sally Hansen Nail Prism Amber Ruby, but it looked terrible with my skin tone :(
ReplyDeleteYou should sell it!
DeleteI just did an inventory of my polishes, but haven't gotten the nerve to run a total yet...I found two bottles of backups I got of this line and both are still in good shape. I loved them when they came out and I love them now. The stampings look great!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I remember looking at these when they came out and just being floored by them...back before we had duochromes everywhere, lol.
