Hello!!
Isn't it great when things that you love come together to make a great big mountain of awesome? Today is one of those days for me, because I get to announce something very cool...
Literary Lacquers has created a polish duo inspired by a book series I love: the Hot Off The Press series, by Julia Park Tracey!! And, I get the honor of bringing you a GIVEAWAY to celebrate this awesome collaboration!
Amy at Literary Lacquers has donated an advance set of these polishes for this giveaway (these are not yet available for sale!!), and Julia Park Tracey has donated signed copies of the first two books in the series, Veronika Layne Gets the Scoop, and Veronika Layne Has a Nose for News.
Veronika Layne, the heroine of the Hot Off The Press series, is a journalist who has been assigned to fluff pieces and is trying to prove to her bosses she can do more; in the process she uncovers a variety of nefarious happenings, and struggles to find love. She's a pierced, tattooed, smart, sassy earth-muffin trying to save the world and find herself.
The books are funny, witty, and touching; they have a little bit of romance, a little bit of mystery, and a whole lot of hot s-e-...well, let's just say a whole lot of hot, heh heh.
This awesome heroine inspired Literary Lacquers Veronika, a dusty plum holo that captures both Veronika's kind soul and her goth-ish edge:

This is two coats. The formula was excellent, and application was smooth--in fact, on my way to an event this weekend, I did a manicure with both these polishes as we were driving in the car, in the dark, and had near perfect application (except for those darn potholes) even under those circumstances. This polish is sugar-plum fairies with kick--and a hidden tattoo or two under their tutus. Say that three times fast.
Veronika drives a bio-diesel truck, and as you may know, these vehicles are a little, well...smelly. To celebrate Veronika's attempt to reduce her carbon footprint, Amy created Stinky Little Truck; this polish has a soft linear flash, along with a scattered holographic effect, and if that weren't enough, it also has a flecked finish that adds sparkle even in dimmer lighting conditions:

Macro to show the sparkle and the gold! |
If you took the tinsel off of your Christmas tree, extracted the magical essence of it, and turned it into something elegant and adult, you'd get this polish. This polish has sparkle, it has bling, but it stops short of disco-ball; it has a subtlety and an elegance that makes it completely wearable while maintaining glam. The holo flash is gold, which gives the polish a depth that's different from most silver holos. I love it--and I don't normally wear silver. I have no idea how she accomplished this finish, and I've seen my fair share of polishes!
I love that these colors are perfect for the holidays, especially if you're not one who goes for the typical red-and-green Christmas-type manicures. Both of these have enough special to them to bring magic to your holiday look, while still being sophisticated.
I'll let you know when these polishes go up for sale--for now, this is the only way you can get them, so let's get on to the giveaway! For shipping reasons, this giveaway is open only in the United States (if you aren't in the US, stayed tuned--I'll be announcing another giveaway this week that's open internationally), and of course you have to be over 18, etc. (see the terms and conditions at the bottom of the widget). The giveaway runs through 08 December 2015; the winner will have 48 hours from the time I contact them to respond, if they do not, I will choose another winner.
