Review and How-To: MoYou-London Mother Nature/ Landscape collection 02

(Products in this post were purchased with my own money.)

Hello!

Today I'm going to show you another plate by MoYou-London, and discuss some ways to use it; the name of this one is a little confusing, because back when I ordered it, it was part of the Landscape collection, and now the collection is called the 'Mother Nature' collection. So if you like the plate and want to get it, don't let the name change confuse you. :)

Today I'll be showing you plate 02 of this collection, and I have two others I'll show you separately. Here is a video I made showing all three plates together:

Okay, next up, let's take a look at plate 02:

Next let's look at the size of the images vs. a standard Konad plate, so you have an idea of what to expect:

First comment before I get into using this plate. When I went to stamp with this, I realized there is a small defect in the neck of the peacock. I have contacted MoYou-London about getting a replacement for the plate, and I'll update you here when I hear back.

UPDATE: MoYou replaced my defective plate without a problem, and even sent me a wheel of rhinestones to apologize for the trouble. Excellent customer service!

Okay, now on to the fun stuff! Here are some suggestions for you on how to use this plate, along with two manicures I've done with it:

1) Isolate images. This is a really great plate for isolating images. There are tons of different flowers, beautiful birds, even butterflies and leaves:

To pull out these beauties, you are going to want to know how to isolate images or parts of images. If you don't know how to do that, check out my tutorial on it, by clicking here.

2) Use the entire field of flowers and birds as a full-nail image, and just stamp the areas that you like to cover your nails. This one is pretty straight-forward. :)

3) Similar to 2, you could use the peacock feathers as a beautiful full-nail image.

4) Build a scene of some cool happenings out on those branches! For this technique, it's helpful to know how to align the placement of a stamp on your nails, at least reasonably well (although of course you don't have to do it perfectly). I have a tutorial on the method I use for doing this, which you can get to by clicking here.

I did a sample manicure for this technique; first, here is the branch I chose, with an additional little birdie I wanted to add on:

I stamped the design with Konad white over Sinful Colors Got A Blush On You; keep in mind this is a textured polish, so that gives a textured look to the stamping, too:

(Please excuse the smudge on my ring finger--this was due to a dog hair, not the fault of the stamping plate!)

The trick to this manicure is to make sure the branch is roughly matching up from finger to finger; this doesn't have to be perfect to still be visually compelling, because you eye will adjust over the spaces between the fingers to the degree. :)

5) My last suggestion is to make a cool peacock manicure with the peacock on the left-hand side. Here are the two sections I used for make version of this:

I stamped with China Glaze Passion over a mystery polish that I will be reviewing later in the week. Then, I decorated the feathers using Sally Hansen Currant Trend, Red-io Active, Mint Sprint, and  Freeze!:

Do you wanna

touch my peacock?
I also used a dot of Konad black for the eye, and you'll notice I hid the flaw from the stamping plate by giving the bird a little choker of color on his neck. :) I love how this came out--this peacock is honestly the main reason I bought this plate, just so I could make manicures like this. :)

So there are my thoughts on how to use this plate! I hope something here stirs up some ideas for you. :)

Hugs and loves,
M.

  2. thanks for the review! I only have 2 stamping plates right now and I was looking to buy more... these are definitely beautiful! For the birds on the branch mani that goes across your nails... do you use a larger stamper? Or do you just use the normal konad size one and move along picking up different parts of the plate?

    1. My pleasure! For both manicures, I used a normal Konad. However, my nails are at the length right now on the peacock manicure where the Konad barely works anymore--if they get any longer I'd need the XL. :) And, even if you have smaller/shorter nails, using an XL to pick up more of the design might help you be able to get the portion you want...

  8. Very nice! I just found you on YT a few days ago and subscribed. I have a bunch of plates but they are way too small. When I found you, I never knew they made plate with larger images. I must confess that I am a polish junkie also!!!
