Hello!
So I said I was gonna test out whether or not you can shrink the sugar skulls on UberChic Beauty's Sugar Skulls 01 plate, and I'm back with a report. Spoiler alert--you can!
For this manicure I started with a base of Zoya Ember, from their 2015 fall Flair collection:

I shrunk the top one--it came out well, with the lovely details preserved! As you can see, it's a little smaller, and now fits with no problem on my ring finger:

I pulled the image of the other skull at full size, to put on my thumb; I decorated them using the reversed-stamping technique (I used Zoya Hannah, Zoya Sia, and Sally Hansen Lightning). The I stamped some of the big roses with Konad Black, and the rose/thorn pattern with Barry M Silver Foil. Here's how it all came out:
So, since I shrunk down this skull image... |
does that make me a head shrinker? |

You can see in the last picture the relative size and detail of the two skulls, with and without shrinking. So, you should be able to shrink down the medium sized skulls on this plate and use them whole on your nails no problem. If you're not sure how to shrink images, you can see my tutorial by clicking here.
Happy shrinking!
M.
i like it.beautiful work
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I love how this came out, I'm going to do it again for DdlM. :)
DeleteWow, there is quite a difference in the two sizes. Amazing how you can shrink it. Thanks for the tutorial!
ReplyDeleteI mostly dislike the Halloween nail season - I'm not into the creepy stuff. Well, actually, I'm not into the whole winter holiday nail season much either. Way too much jammed-up nail art, imo. However, I generally like the sugar skulls - they are so fancy and usually are nicely colored. Yours is so pretty, especially with that awesome base polish!
Yes, I was really impressed at how well it works! It means the majority of the skulls on the plate will fit your nails. And I hear you on the Halloween/Christmas stuff--I love it, but I'm trying this year to blend in some regular manis along with it for people who don't so much, haha. And thank you!!! :)
DeleteThis is so super edgy! The sugar skull turned out amazing.

ReplyDeleteGreat post! I feel like I'm ready to try shrinking some images now!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this! When you said you shrunk the image, do you stretch out the stamping head when you pick it up so that it will shrink when you release it?
ReplyDeleteI had no idea you could shrink images. Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteNice shrunken heads, teehee! I like how colorful you make this look!
