Before & After: Holographic half-moon

Hello everyone!

This week's challenge in the Kimber's Amazing Challenge Ladies group 'holographic', a theme I think most everyone can love! I decided to make it twice as nice by showing some holo-on-holo action...And show you one of my favorite tricks for using French-nail stamping images. :)

I started with Mentality Tenderness, a red-based purple bastion of holographic goodness:

Mentality Tenderness, 2 coats, indirect light

Isn't she a beauty? Last time I showed you Julep Reese, and this is the stunning redder younger sister of Reese. This is two coats of excellent formula and application; and if you haven't checked out Mentality before, they have great prices and even better sales. :)

I decided to make a half-moon using a French nail stamping image; to do this, you just stamp across the bottom of the nail, making sure not to leave a gap at the bottom of the cuticle. For this one, I stamped using Nfu-Oh and one of the French nail images on Mash-72:

I love that delicate flower pattern. :)

I love this technique because it's easy, it's very pretty, and it makes use of those French nail images that I often don't know what to do with...

Don't forget to take a look at all of the other holo gorgeousness below. :) Hugs,
M.

  4. Oh my gosh, that colour is pure gorgeousness! And I will make good use of the trick for French nail patterns! I also have a couple stamping plates with those that I never use.

  5. Best. Half-moon. Mani. EVER!! :))
Seriously, I just don't like them; I guess the inverted shape (for lack of better words) sort of doesn't make sense to me, lol. The similar but different - ruffian - that, I can accept.
(oh, and glitter cascading down from cuticles doesn't count - that's just awesome!) :D

    1. Aw, thank you anyway! To each his own, I knew exactly what you mean. You know those 'comic book' nails where they draw the black around the edges? I just don't get that look. I did see one mani using it once that I liked, but otherwise, nope, I'm just not down, lol. :)

    2. Ha, see, I adore those :)
But I really like your take on the half-moon, that leafy pattern is so elegant. I guess we can conclude that stamping makes everything better! :D

    3. LOL! Absolutely. And I would love to see a comic-book nail mani that you did...Do one and send me a picture! Make me fall in love with it!! :)

    4. lol, nope, I'm nowhere near skilled enough to have my nail art convince anyone or make them fall in love! :)
And I've never actually tried them before; I don't even have all the tools required. Besides I'm currently keeping my nails sorta long-ish [by my standards/for my nails] and don't think it'd look that great as I believe that mani looks way better on shorter nails.

    5. I don't believe that--you're not skilled--for a minute, lol! :) And I agree with you that it's way better on shorter nails, that comic look. :)

  7. This polish is absolutely lovely: it has an evident holo effect but it's classy and elegant (and even work appropriate, I'd say) at the same time. <3

    1. Yes, absolutely. It has nice holo, but nothing that's going to overwhelm and call too much attention at work. :)

  8. I love that the polish makes your nails look like they were photoshopped on to your fingers! Gorgeous polish!

  9. This looks gorgeous -- I love the holo polish by itself, and the stamping makes it even better! It reminds me of the Greek gods for some reason.. maybe that's just me being weird though :)

    1. No, not at all, I can see what you mean. It sort of has the type of motif you'd see on the edges of an ancient Greek carving...:)
