Before & After: DazzleGlaze Sunsets of Tahiti + UberChic Beauty 4-01

(Plate sent for review)

Hello!

Spring is coming around the pike, and today I'm celebrating the colors of the flowers soon to come. :)

I started with a base of DazzleGlaze Sunsets of Tahiti, such a beautiful pink-to-coral multichrome:

Then I threw on a coat of DazzleGlaze Super Cool Sleepover:

And finally I stamped the crap out of it with UberChic Beauty 4-01, using Hit The Bottle Polishes Absynthe-Minded:

I love the way the pink and coral flash through the green, and the lines of the stamped images make me think of some beautiful tropical plant. Let's hear it for spring!

Happy stamping,

Before & After: Subtle Swirls with DazzleGlaze Persephone's Pomegranate + UberChic Beauty 5-02

(Plate sent for review; affiliate link)

Hello!

Sometimes things fail, but in a good way.

For today's manicure, I started with DazzleGlaze Lacquer's Persephone's Pomegranate, a rich cherry red polish with glowing flecks that's perfect for Christmas:

And then I decided to stamp on it using UberChic Beauty 5-02 and Sally Hansen Copperhead. Now, none of the products themselves are a fail--they're all awesome, and admittedly, I didn't fully expect Copperhead to stamp well. It certainly wasn't the bold metallic stamping polish you might want, but I was pleasantly surprised with the subtle copper effect I ended up with:

I like the soft feel of this--perfect for an occasion where you want your elegance to be a little more understated, I think.

What do you think--subtle, or fail?

Happy stamping,

Review: DazzleGlaze polishes

(Nothing to disclose)

Hello!

As you know, I've been trying to expand my efforts to support the indie polish community in light of the summer's events, and I'm back today with a lovely brand I discovered a few months ago: DazzleGlaze Lacquer, part of Radiantly Vivacious.

I discovered the brand when I posted in an indie group looking for someone to create a custom gift for me; I thought I'd give a new brand a try, and loved what she mixed up for me. The custom was a gift, but of course I had to order a couple of beauties for myself...*ahem*...

I couldn't resist trying a bottle of Persephone's Pomegranate, a pomegranate-red jelly with gold flecks that give the polish a deep glow:

This is two easy coats--excellent formula, excellent application, one coat of topcoat. This is a gorgeous polish for the holiday, a pretty Christmas red with just enough glow-from-within to make your nails look elegant and special. Love, love, love!

And with my ever-lasting love of multichromes, I had to try Sunsets Of Tahiti, which shifts through pink and coral to an almost bronze shade:

This is also two easy coats, excellent formula and application, with topcoat. This gives exactly what the name suggests--the beautiful colors of a tropical sunset, flashing across your nails all day long. I once was lucky enough to visit Maui, and there was a sunset with just these colors, so I don't know about Tahiti, but Maui works for sure!

There was a small snafu with my order, and because of that, DazzleGlaze sent me a mini of Super Cool Sleepover (excellent customer service!), a mix of silver and pink holographic glitters that seemed to me a perfect match to go over Sunsets of Tahiti:

This s one coat brushed on, with no muss or fishing. This is a fun, girly topper that adds a dose of twinkle to your day. Love. :)

I found the quality of all three polishes to be excellent, and I'll definitely shop at DazzleGlaze polish again. She has quite a selection, and did an excellent job making up a custom to my specifications! You can find her etsy shop here, and you can also follow her on the Radiantly Vivacious Facebook page here.

Happy polishing!

Before & After: Day Of The Dead (Bunny Nails BuNa-D)

(Press sample)

Hello!

I'm back today with a fun before & after with Bunny Nails BuNa-D, one of the four new plates I recently reviewed for you here.

I also recently did a sugar skulls mani that was on the elegant Dia de los Muertos side for you, and was inspired by this plate to do a different type of Day of the Dead mani for you, this time, on the more fun and whimsical side.

I started with a base of DazzleGlaze Persephone's Pomegranate, a medium-dark red polish with embedded flakies:

Then I stamped the scribbly flowered image from Bunny nails BuNa-D as my background:

And then stamped two funky skeletons from Bunny Nails HD-D using Konad White:

Here's how it turned out:

What do you think? I just love those two skeletons, they make me smile! This has a very different feel to it, more fun and playful, and I love it. :)

Review: Incoco's Top It Off Collection

(Press Sample)

Hello!!

A while back I told you that Incoco had come out with a cool new concept--their Top It Off collection, nail wraps that have a pattern on them but are clear, so you can put them over whatever color you want. I think this gives an added element of flexibility and fun to anyone's polish and nail art wardrobe.

The collection currently has five looks, and they sent me two to review:

Incoco Fifth Ave has geometric slashes of a floral-ish pattern that also looks to me like seashells or the tops of parasols:

And Incoco Street Smart is a geometric delight filled with chevrons and angles--I sooo adore this one:

Incoco Street Smart

I love the versatility of both of these sets--they go with any color and any style you want.

So let's check out how they look! One of the first ideas that occurred to me when I first saw this collection was that I can put it over awesome polishes like duochromes...so here is Fifth Ave over DazzleGlaze Sunsets of Tahiti, a beautiful pink-coral duochrome:

And I wanted to see how a matte polish would look under these, so I put Incoco Street Smart over Zoya Harlow:

So how did they work out? I found these just as easy as any other Incoco appliques to work; they stretched just like the other appliques and also removed easily for replacement within a few seconds if you make a mistake. One difference here is that you need to line these up with the base polish or applique that you've put under them; I didn't clean up my edges so you could see how I did. You can see that I didn't have much problem at all getting these to line up; I could go in and remove the teeny bit over overlap with some acetone if I wanted to, but IRL, you honestly can't even tell and I see no reason to bother.

Can you tell that something has been put over your first layer of manicure? This was something I wondered about, because some nail stickers and decals are pretty obvious, and I thought these might end up looking like those plastic covers that people put on their couches. No worries whatsoever--once they're in place, you can't tell they're there. I do have a small wrinkle in one that you can't see in the picture, and even then, it's not obvious or annoying.

I was also concerned that these might pick up fingerprints when I touched the sticky side, and I'd end up with janky old fingerprints showing through my mani. But I touched these full-on with my fingers, and it left no visible fingerprints whatsoever. Clean as a whistle.

These do function as a shiny topcoat. This is why I tested out a matte polish, and yes, the wraps turned the matte into a shiny polish just as if I'd added topcoat, and even brought out the sparkly-shines the way a topcoat would.

So what do I think overall? I think these are really innovative and I really like them. They're fast, they're easy, and they work over any polish you want to combine them with, so you aren't restricted to one color for a particular design. I hope they'll continue to expand on this line with patterns in other colors (White! Silver! Gold!) and other designs.

You can find these and the three other designs on Incoco's website; while you're there, check out the Fashion Forward fall 2015 collection, which I'll be reviewing for you shortly.

Happy wrapping!
