Review: Winstonia Color Me Vine plate

(Press samples and affiliate links** ahead!)

Hello!

I'm back with the second of the four Winstonia plates I'm reviewing, Color Me Vine. Here's the video that shows all three of the plates if you want to see them in motion:

And here's a closer look at Color Me Vine:

There are a couple of ways to use this plate. There are several full-nail images you can use on long-ish nails, and even more you can use if your nails are shorter. But, you can also pull designs that cross over the lined boundaries for a patchwork type of manicure. In fact, take a look at my test swatch to see how I accidentally took advantage of the boundary line for a French-tip look.

Since the areas are all different sizes, here's a shot to help you get a feel for how big different areas are:

And take a look at how this beauty stamps:

Crisp, clean, perfect lines--and check out that accidental French tip! I mean, um, I meant to do that! Yeah, yeah! Ahem.

Okay, time for the manicures! For the first look, I wanted to take advantage of the segmented patterns. I decided on a skittle look with bright summer colors:

From left to right, I have Zoya Dory stamped with Messy Mansion Spring Green, Zoya Ness stamped with Zoya Cam, Zoya Cam stamped with Messy Mansion Banana Bender, and Zoya Liv stamped with Zoya Dory. I love how the bright colors and fun patterns play with one another and how the patterns overlap from one nail to the next.

I did a second manicure to showcase one of the patterns:

For this one, from left to right, I have Literary Lacquers Salmon Chanted Evening, Liquid Lacquer Dirty Watermelon over Spellbound Nails Milky Way, Spellbound Nails Milky Way stamped with Messy Mansion Carbon, and, finally, Zoya Ness. I love how well these colors play together, but OMG, check out how perfect that image stamped! There is no hiding imperfect stamping when it's black on white, and that is as perfect as it gets.

You can buy this plate directly from the Winstonia store use the code MICH10 for 10% off your entire purchase.; it's also available on Amazon if that's easier for you. And don't forget to follow Winstonia on Facebook and Instagram!

Happy stamping,
M.

Before & After (ish): Easiest Watermelon Nails Ever

(Press samples ahead!)

Hello!

Summer is pretty much here, and it's time for picnics and summer fun--including that most awesome of summer treats, watermelon! And I'm gonna show you how to make the easiest watermelon nails ever using UberChic Beauty plate 9-01.

I started with a base of Julep Karissa on my accent nails and China Glaze Watermelon Rind on the rest (that seemed fitting, somehow...):

Then I stamped my image from UberChic Beauty 9-01, with Messy Mansion Carbon, on my accent nails:

And while I think that's pretty awesome all on its own, I wanted to try adding a very cool glitter I picked up a while back (quite a while back!), Liquid Lacquer Dirty Watermelon:

Of course, you can use green stamping polish for the rind of the watermelon stamp to make it a little more realistic and fancy, but I love both of these looks, and the manicure is sooo easy. And clear stampers make it so easy to line up the edge of that rind so your stamping is perfect.

Which do you like better--with the glitter or without?

Happy stamping!

Spooky Polished Pairings: Holo in triplicate

(All polishes in this post were purchased with my own money.)

Hello!!

What's more awesome than a gorgeous holo? A gorgeous holo that's perfect for Halloween! (Hmmm...this would be the perfect place for a Holo-ween pun...I'll work on it and check back in...) And what's more awesome than that? That same holo paired with not one, not two, but three different Halloween glitters!

Okay, now that I've built it up to a level that I cannot possibly live up to, let's just move on to the polish. I give you the amazing pumpkin-worthy orange holo that is LynBDesigns Am I Ginger?:

LynBDesigns Am I Ginger?, two coats, direct sunlight

This polish slid on to my nails like a silk nightgown sliding over my hips. The formula was perfect, and the coverage was excellent, requiring only two coats for opacity.

This holo needs no accompaniment, but every beautiful girl deserves some extra bling now and then. So, I went on a quest to find the perfect Halloween glitter to pair her with...Let's see how she looks with a coat of Liquid Lacquer Quarter Life Crisis, which is chock-full of purple, teal, and green circle glitters:

Oh yes. Circle glitters in Halloweenish colors...there's just no arguing with that. However, let's see what else we can come up with...How about Lush Lacquer Frankenmama:

The small purple glitters in this really bring out the purple in AIG's holo rainbow...it's like AIG has been turbo-charged somehow. Just gorgeous!

I don't know how we're gonna improve on that, but let's take a shot at a classic orange-and-black type pairing with IBD Party Riot, a topper with large and small black hexes, black bar glitter, and gold hexes:

This is certainly a very typical sort of Halloween look, but will still definitely get you noticed, particularly when the sun hits it. :)

So what do you think? Which pairing is your favorite?

Halloween hugs,
M.
