Dixie Plates Halloween 2019

(Press samples ahead!)

Hello!

Today we're gonna take a look at another new plate from Dixie Plates, her 2019 Halloween plate. Here's the quick video review I did of the plate:

And here's a closer look at the plate:

Dixie Plates Halloween 2019

Skill level: This is an intermediate plate that stamps beautifully.
What I love about this plate: Haunted forest! Phases of the moon! Cool spooky ghosts! Bloody cleavers and a ouija board image! And the spookiest spider-riddled web you'll ever want to see.

Here are the test looks I did:

And now on to the manis! For the first one, I wanted to make a spooky haunted forest filled with nasty ghosts:

For this one, I had to play around with that infested tree:

And I've already shown you this one, but in case you missed it, this is my tribute to the urban legend of Bloody Mary:

UberChic Beauty Halloween 05

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

Today we're going to take a look at this year's UberChic Beauty Halloween plate, Halloween 05! Here's the quick video I did discussing the plate (with sample swatches):

And here's a closer look at the images:

UberChic Beauty Halloween 05

What I love about this plate: This is a fun addition to UberChic Beauty's Halloween plate line, and stylistically it will mix and match well with the previous plates. My favorite things on this one are the layering cauldrons, the fun, goofy ghosts, the webs you can use for a french mani, and the skull that looks like he wants some candy.

Here are the sample swatches I did:

Now on to the manis! I have a bunch of them today, so I'm going to move from simple and easy to more complex:

UberChic Beauty Halloween 05 over UberChic Beauty Electric Pumpkin

Base Polish(es): UberChic Beauty Electric Pumpkin
Stamping Plate(s): UberChic Beauty Halloween 05
Stamping Polish(es): Sally Hansen Grease Lightning

For this one I wanted a more subtle, charcoal gray look, but if I had to do it again, I think I'd stamp it in black for more contrast.

For this one I did two different versions on each hand, because I wanted to play around a bit:

UberChic Beauty Halloween 05 over Zoya Rashida

Base Polish(es): Zoya Rashida
Stamping Plate(s): UberChic Beauty Halloween 05
Stamping Polish(es): BeautyBigBang Gold, Kaleidoscope Black

Is it just me, or does the double stamping on the second one make the skull look a little bit like Homer Simpson?

For this one I wanted to play with some lighter colors:

Base Polish(es): UberChic Beauty Electric Pumpkin
Stamping Plate(s): UberChic Beauty Halloween 05
Stamping Polish(es): Messy Mansion Lilac and Bisque

For the next one, I couldn't resist playing around with the Frankenstein image, 'cause he makes me smile:

Base Polish(es): Girly Bits The Hustle
Stamping Plate(s): UberChic Beauty Halloween 05
Stamping Polish(es): Moonflower Polish Apple, Kaleidoscope Black, Hit The Bottle Polish Drop Red Gorgeous

For this one and the next, I used a reversed stamping technique. Often when I do reversed stamping I'll just do it on one nail, because it's so labor and time intensive!

And that skull looks like he wants something nommy to eat:

UberChic Beauty Halloween 05 over Zoya Ashton

Base Polish(es): Zoya Ashton, Sally Hansen Get Mod
Stamping Plate(s): UberChic Beauty Halloween 05
Stamping Polish(es): Kaleidoscope White and Black

I also used the reversed stamping technique for this one. I love how this came out!

What do you think? Are there any images on this plate you just love? You can buy this plate now in UberChic Beauty's store, and anywhere else UberChic is sold. :)

Big hugs,
M. xoxo

PPU Alert!: Lantern & Wren Feather Light Lotion

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

Yesterday I showed you Lantern & Wren Don't Run Upstairs, Carleigh's stamping polish included in this month's PPU sale. But, Lantern & Wren also has another cool item you can buy this month--a shortbread-scented lotion.

In fact, Lantern & Wren plans to have a different scented lotion available regularly during the PPU sales, so I was interested to test it out. I have high standards when it comes to the lotion I use, because I am very sensitive to scents, and I absolutely hate feeling like I have anything on my hands. So, the scents have to be high-quality and the lotion has to be non-greasy. Let's take a look at how Lantern & Wren's measured up...

As you can see, the bottle is very generous! You won't have to worry about running out after a few uses.

The lotion itself is thick, with a lovely smooth consistency, not at all watery or goopy. The first picture is right from the bottle, the second I smooshed it around with my finger a little to give you a sense of how it holds up.

Here it is on my hands (which, as you can see, are dry and have a ton of premature age spots because I'm OCD and wash my hands twenty times a day, plus I have to be careful about the lotions I use!) You can see in the picture, as soon as I put this on, it began to soak in. After a quick rub, the lotion disappeared completely, leaving no greasiness behind. I'll have no problem wearing this on a regular basis.

Until smell-o-vision is invented, you'll have to trust me on the scent--it smells like the yummiest cookies you'd ever want to eat! It literally fooled my husband, who didn't realize I was wearing it, and wanted to know what I'd just eaten and why I hadn't shared with him.

So, my final verdict: this is an excellent product that I'll definitely use. I didn't have a bad reaction to the scent, and I found it absorbed beautifully--it's definitely feather light. I'd definitely recommend it.

You can buy this product during this month's Polish Pickup sale, from October 4th-7th. There's a cap of 100, and it will sell for $12.00.

Big hugs,
M. xoxo

PPU Alert!: Lantern & Wren Don't Run Upstairs Stamping Polish

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

A black stamping polish is the essential backbone of every nail stamper's arsenal--so if you've been looking for one you can also wear as a matte black polish, have I got a beauty for you! Here's Lantern & Wren Don't Run Upstairs:

Lantern & Wren Don't Run Upstairs

Base Polish(es): Sally Hansen Get Mod, Stella Chroma Hug The Road and All Charged Up
Stamping Plate(s): Lantern & Wren Dab to the Bone
Stamping Polish(es): Lantern & Wren Don't Run Upstairs

This polish stamped well, and covered a variety of colors well. And I love the name--because if you're a horror movie, you know, never EVER run upstairs, lol! Perfect for Urban Legend month, and for a black polish. The finish is matte, so you can wear it as a matte if you want, or cover it with topcoat as I've done here.

Don't Run Upstairs will be available in the Polish Pickup store between Oct 4th and 7th. It will sell for $10.00 and there will be a cap of 150. So if you want a bottle (or two!) make sure you don't miss the sale. :)

Big hugs,
M. xoxo
