If orange is the new black, can 'one day late' be the new 'on-time' for nail art challenges?? Pretty please?
No, I really do just need to get my act together.
Well,
I started with this most controversial of 2013 Holiday Polishes, China Glaze There's Snow One Like You. This is a white, glittered, textured conglomeration of a polish that takes the idea of texture to a new apex or nadir, depending on your personal preference. I admit, I am one of the few who truly love it--it looks to me like drifts of snow and makes me feel like my fingertips have that tree flocking stuff on them. I personally think it looks best with a generous coat of topcoat over the top, to smooth it out a bit:

Next, I stamped over it using Barry M Silver Foil and Bundle Monster 407:
Finally, I put little half-beads as accents for the circles on the design; these were sent to me for review from Born Pretty Store, and I will be doing a more complete review of them tomorrow. If you're interested in buying them in the meantime, I have a 10% coupon code (MCL91):

Walking in a winter wonderland. :) |
I wasn't sure how this would come out stamped over texture, but I do sort of like the way it makes the light shine off of different parts of the trees, almost like it's being lit by moonlight or something. And what do you think, better with the beads, or without? I think the beads add a little special something.
Hope you're enjoying your winter wonderland, whatever it might be looking like. :)
Hugs and loves,
M.
cute :) a great usage of materials :)
ReplyDeleteThank you much! :)
DeleteOoo pretty :)...I like the beads too. I love the effect of the China glaze but I think wearing it would distress me too much lol. X
ReplyDeleteIf you don't like the feel of texture on your fingertips, this one definitely isn't for you. The topcoat helps a bit, but you still can definitely feel it. That doesn't bother me, but I know some people hate that...
DeleteI love the beads! Also, so happy someone has been able to show that the snow effect CG can actually be GOOD. It got so many bad reviews for being ugly but I quite like it.
ReplyDeleteYes yes yes! I was really surprised to see it get so much negative coverage, but I guess it would be a boring world if we were all alike...Or so I tell myself, lol!
DeleteLove that stamping image! Its so pretty here :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! It's one of my favorites from that set. It has a sort of retro 60s feel to it that I really love.
DeleteMe likey! The slight ripple effect of the trees stamped over the texture reminds me of looking thru an iced over window the morning after a storm. The beads are where the sun reflects off larger clusters of ice where 2 branches cross. You're not alone, I like Snow One Like You too.
ReplyDelete(Dang! I'm practically waxing poetic here. Who am I & what did I do with myself? lol)
Ooo!!! Yes! You captured it perfectly!! Maybe I need you to come wax poetic in a guest post for me one of these times...:)
DeleteI can guest post if you're not too worried I'll scare all your peeps away. LOL

Deletelol!! No way. And I'd love to have you guest post or exchange guest posts sometime. :)
DeleteI love how you did this! the silver balls give it something very special! And I know that this polish has been controversial, it looks really good over a white base, and I am finding myself liking it more and more, but just for Christmas....
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! And I agree completely. I love it for Christmas, but can't really see using it for anything else. I do wish I had a green version for zombie manicures, lol!
