NCC Before & After: Brocade Monsoon

Hello!

Hey, how's it goin'? You havin' a good weekend? Today I had a pretty good day.  I got to sleep for more than 5 hours for the first time in a week, and it was glorious. Glorious, I tell you, glorious!!!

Today I have the last of my March Nail Challenge Collaborative manis, and I'm a little bummed that this month is over. I have so many untrieds that I could probably do this theme all year. :)

Today's untried is Mentality Monsoon, a deep purple-gray matte with red particles in it:

For reasons I can't fully explain, every time I get a deliciously smooth Mentality matte on my fingers, I want to brocade it. Maybe it's because the matte reminds me of lush velvet, I dunno. But it does, and I do. So, I stamped over it using MoYou London Fairytale Collection 10 (which I will be reviewing for you later this week--check back for that!) and Sally Hansen Red-io Active; I chose red because those little red flecklets in the polish were calling out to me. I did put topcoat over the manicure, but I've included pictures of my thumb while it was still matte (I admit, I forgot to take pictures of it matte before I topcoated the other ones, lol!):

And a matte shot...this is why my thumbs normally don't appear on the blog, lol!:

If you think this would make a great winter or Christmas look, I completely agree with you, and I plan to wear it that way in the future. Wait 'til you see the plate it came from, so much coolness...:)

Have a wonderful Sunday! Hugs and loves. :)

  1. This is amazing! That red stamping on top pairs so well with it. Man, wish I could sleep in. I'm planning to do it once my classes are over in the next two weeks, lol.

    1. You have my deep sympathies!! I remember those days in school where I was running on nothing but the anticipation of the end of the term, lol...::Hands you cup of coffee::

  3. Gorgeous! Very pretty, I like it better when glossy though ;)
    I could totally do the challenge for a whole year and probably still have some untrieds left... ^^;

    1. I think that's why her mattes are my favorites, because they're like having two polishes in one, every single one I have is beautiful with topcoat, too, but in a different way. She must put in some special kind of something that lights up under the topcoat, lol. And I hear you about the untrieds...and I have been on an involuntary 6 month no-buy!! (okay, I bought 6 bottles in that time, but I think that's pretty darn amazing self control!!).

    1. Agreed. I have yet to meet a mentality polish that I don't love. I'm sure you've tried their holos too?

  6. Sleep is the best, man! I'm stoked for you that you got to sleep in; it is indeed a glorious feeling :D This is the second of the Mentality matte line I've seen and it is TOTALLY gorgeous. Your stamping is divine, as is the red you chose to complement, and your thumb is actually quite photogenic! ;)

    1. Right?? We have this on-going construction that will last for two more weeks, which gets me up about 3 hours before my normal wake time and totally messes with my sleep schedule. So as Friday comes I expect to be more and more zombiefied, then hopefully refreshed by the weekend again! Anyway, I have another Mentality Matte coming up later in the week, stay tuned for that one...:)

  7. Imma let you finish, but let me just go mattify my current mani!

Gosh, this is gorgeous! I admire you for your knack for this sort of combos & colour pairings and all that.
And just so you know, that's a perfectly fine thumb, lol!

    1. ROFLMFAO!! You literally made me LOL with that. :) Thanks so much! And thanks to you (and Liesl above!) for reassuring me about the thumb. I think the main problem is it's very ridge-y, and the ridges don't like to buff out unless I really go for it. In real life, because nobody's all up in mah thumb's grill, it's not a worry, and since I usually don't have to put it on camera, I usually leave it...>.<

    2. Well this post (more specifically, that Mentality polish!) just reminded me how much I love matte ANYthing! :)

Ah, sure you're a blogger and have a different view of these things, but sure you're doing your nails primarily for your own pleasure, so don't go neglecting that poor lil thumb. :)

    3. I predict that you will love the next Mentality matte I have coming up this week...:)

And yes, you're right--it's funny how being a nail blogger can result in a case of body dysmorphia for your thumb!! LOL :)
