The Lady Varnishes I'm So Ogre Green...Not!

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

Today I have another polish to show you from August's Polish Pickup collection--The Lady Varnishes I'm So Ogre Green...Not!, inspired by Shrek, The Musical:

The Lady Varnishes I'm So Ogre Green...Not!

The Lady Varnishes I'm So Ogre Green...Not! is a beautiful sea-foam green to baby blue multichrome that also shows hints of lavender, with a flecked finish:

I have on two easy coats of gorgeous formula that applied like butter. :)

This, to my mind, is the ultimate mermaid polish. I don't normally go out of my way to grab a pastel, but this--this is stunning. It's magical and ethereal, the sort of polish I can't take my eyes off. It's like an enchanted pond or a perfect mermaid's tail or an ocean sprite. Light dances across it like ballerinas floating across a stage.

I wanted to do something that celebrated the light, precious feel of this polish, so I stamped it with a stained-glass-type image from Creative Shop 44 using Moyra Silver; I reversed stamped little gems with Hit The Bottle Polish Lucky Spark and Amethyst Sizzle (available in the US here):

And then I matted it:

I love the gems in this image, and I feel like this adds a little extra special to the mani, while allowing the polish to really shine through. :)

You can purchase a bottle of this stunner between August 3rd and 6th during this month's Polish Pickup sale. If you want to see more spoilers of the polishes, come hang out with the Polish Pickup Pack, and in the meantime, check out the other polishes in The Lady Varnishes' shop.

Supernatural Lacquer Wonderflonium!

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

Today I have another Polish Pickup beauty to hare with you: Supernatural Lacquer's Wonderflonium!

Supernatural Lacquer Wonderflonium

Polish Pickup's theme this month is 'musicals', and this polish is inspired by Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog. Supernatural Lacquer Wonderflonium is a blackened royal blue polish that has exactly the sort of subtle purple shift at the edges that makes my camera cry and scream and throw tantrums. It also have platinum flakes in several sizes, and blue/purple shifting flakes, as well as metallic purple micro flecks. In other words, it's stuffed so full of awesome flakes and flecks that you better make sure not to bounce it...

I'm wearing three thin coats in these pictures; you'll be fine with two. The application and formula are perfect--excellent control.

This looks like a gorgeous galaxy made with gemstones, or a winter snowstorm with silver snowflakes. It's edgy and magical and girly all at the same time.

I had a feeling it might look pretty matted...

And I was not wrong! I love how the different color flakes give this so much depth, even in matte.

And, of course I did some nail art with it. Remember yesterday I showed you the limited edition plate It Girl Nail Art is making for Polish Pickup? I used It Girl Nail Art LE104 along with a trio of Hit The Bottle Polish beauties (Amethyst Sizzle, Purple Reign, and Moonshine, also available at Lantern & Wren) to make this tribute to Phantom of the Opera:

And here it is matted:

I love, love, love how those flakes combine with the stamping and make it look like a confetti of musical notes is falling from the sky!

You can buy this polish during August's Polish Pickup, from Aug 3rd-6th. In the meantime, check out Polish Pickup's Facebook group, and Supernatural Lacquer around the interwebs:

Two new It Girl Nail Art Plates!

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

Today we're going to take a look at two new plates from It Girl Nail Art--one of which is a limited edition, so if you like it, you're gonna want to grab it...

The first one is It Girl Nail Art LE104; this plate is a limited edition mini plate made for Polish Pickup's Augusts 'Musicals' theme:

It Girl Nail Art LE104

I'm a HUGE fan of broadway musicals, so this plate gives me all the happy feels!! The images are all different sizes, so here's a shot with a ruler so you can get a sense:

The second plate is It Girl Nail Art IG123, which features a bunch of textures--and you know how much I love texture images:

The images on this plate are are 2.25 cm square. You can use them by themselves for fun designs, and you can layer them--but my favorite thing to do with plates like these is combine them with other images to give manis extra pop! I'll have a video review for this plate up on my YouTube channel soon.

On to the manis! For my first mani, I wanted to capture the magic of music! First I stamped images from LE104 on my nekkid nails with Kaleidoscope Black, then I added decals onto the tips that I made with Spellbound Nails Milky Way:

Then I wanted to see how it looked with black edges:

And then, finally, I had to matte it!

What do you think? I think I like the edged, matted version the best. :)

For my second mani, I wanted to go more specific...I started with a base of Zoya Darcy, then stamped an image from IG123 that reminded me of an African savanna or a beautiful African textile, using It Girl Nail Art Mimosa (launching shortly!). Finally, I stamped the Lion King image with Kaleidoscope Black, to resemble the Lion King playbill:

It Girl Nail Art LE104 and IG123 over Zoya Darcy

I love how warm this came out--the colors have a glow to them that makes me think of the show. :)

For today's final look, I wanted to recreate the Hamilton playbill...I started with a base of Zoya Darcy, then sponged over it with Zoya Flynn. Then I stamped in image from IG123 with Zoya Desiree, and finished off the look with the Hamilton image from LE104, stamped with Kaleidoscope Black:

I loved the shiny look, so I took pictures before I matted it to make it look more like the playbill:

I'll be back next time with a Phantom of the Opera mani, so stay tuned for that!

If you love Broadway musicals and want to snap up LE 104, it will be available between August 3 and 6th during the Polish Pickup sale, and come hang out in the Polish Pickup Pack in the meantime for sneak peeks. Plate IG123 will be available shortly in It Girl Nail Art's store. In the meantime, follow IGNA around the interwebs here:

Born Pretty Store BP-L103 (or, Chains of Love!)

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

Today we're going to take a look at a new Born Pretty Store plate, BPS-L103, which features just about any sort of chain you've every imagined...Here's a look at the video review I did of the plate:

Born Pretty Store BP-L103

I selected this plate to review because I love the look of chains on my nails, but I hate working with actual 3D chains. Cutting them to the right size, getting them to stay put, and finessing everything around them is just way more of a nightmare than I am normally willing to put myself through. But this plate allows me to do just about whatever I want--in any color I want.

Here are swatches of the test looks I did in the video:

For my first mani, I did a stamping sammich. I used Zoya Paris, one of the new Jelly Brites, and stamped my image first with Kaleidoscope White, then on top with Moyra Silver:

Stay tuned, because I'll have a tutorial for this up on my YouTube channel shortly! And here's what it looks like matted:

For my second mani, I wanted to use play around with the look of chains along with the naked mani look...I used Zoya Dream, and I stamped with Kaleidoscope White and Moyra Silver:

And here it is matted:

If you run over to Born Pretty Store, be sure to use my code, MCL91, to get 10% off your full sized order--although most items are usually on sale.

What do you think? Do you like the chain look?

M. xoxo

Lantern & Wren Laughing at Clouds

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

Are you enjoying your summer?! I was in Costco yesterday, and saw they have the fall/winter jackets out already. Sorry, but it' mid-July and you're not snatching my summer from me yet!! Back off! I have a good month and a half yet!!!

Okay, sorry about that outburst, but somebody had to draw a line. Seriously.

Today we're going to take a look at the first August Polish Pick Up polish I have to share with you...August's theme is Musicals, which makes me super happy because I love a good musical, and there's so much awesome inspiration out there for the makers.

Lantern & Wren's inspiration was Singin' in the Rain, and here's the stormy-sky awesomeness she created, Laughing at Clouds:

Lantern & Wren Laughing at Clouds

Lantern & Wren Laughing at Clouds is a sparkly blackened teal shimmer with lashings of purple peeping in the shadows:

This is two easy coats of formula and application perfection. Carleigh just changed over to new bottles, and these are sleek and divine. The handle has a no-slip grip, and the brushes are wide and luscious--the kind that let you polish your nail in two swipes with no fuss.  Oh, and by the way? In every bottle, there's a little white umbrella glitter waiting to surprise you at random!

The polish itself is a bit more sparkly than your average shimmer, and has beautiful night-sky depth to it:

To further celebrate the 'Singin' in the Rain' theme,  the polish comes with some adorable purple umbrella glitters:

So of course you know I had to do some nail art with them! First I masked off the bottom portion of the nails, then I stamped with UberChic Beauty Texture-licious 03 and Hit The Bottle Polish Peacock Shimmer. I removed the mask, and stuck on my glitters, so it would look like they were blocking the rain:

I also matted this one:

I think this polish is very pretty matted, but in terms of the design, I think it's better shiny--because of the 'rain' theme, it needs to look wet. :)

You can get this polish during August's Polish Pickup, August 3-6th. In the meantime, check out the Polish Pickup Pack for sneak peek of August's polishes, and check out Lantern & Wren for all kinds of goodies!

Big hugs,
M. xoxo
