NOTD: Influenced by scary movie

Hello!!

Today's prompt in the CNT Halloween challenge is 'influenced by a scary movie'. As I was working on recreating a manicure I liked from earlier in the competition (the last prompt in each of the challenges is to recreate someone else's manicure), I was inspired to do Amityville Horror for this prompt. :)

To do this, I wanted an evil looking house, so I went with a blood red house under a spooky night sky. Then, of course, I had to represent all of the ghosts lurking around the house:

Horror House--are those ghosts flying away, or just circling?

Fly away ghosties! Fly away!

To create the manicure, I started with a base of China Glaze Smoke And Ashes, and added a layer of Max Factor Fantasy Fire to give the night sky a little mystery. I freehanded the moon with Pure Ice Silver Mercedes, and the house with Pure Ice siren and Sally Hansen Lightning. I stamped the ghosts using Anna plate W227, and Sally Hansen White On. And there you have it!

Thanks for looking, and please check out the other scary movie manicures linked below. :)

Haul: British Bonanza!

Hello everyone!!

In my previous post, I mentioned I was in a hurry to use some British polishes that my friend Dina of Secretary's Nail Art recently sent me. A while back Dina mentioned to me that she was going on a trip, and asked if there were any polishes I was interested in, and of course there were a ton of them! She was a champ and found almost every one of the polishes I had on my list, even though it took her a ton of visits to a ton of places. A few days ago, my beloved package of British polishes arrived, and I was like a kid in a candy shop opening them and picking which one I wanted to use first!

I couldn't resist sharing on the blog because there are so many beauties...And, now Ninja Polish is starting to carry a lot of the Barry Ms, so if you see something you like, you can probably find it there:

Overall picture of my British polish haul: Top row, Top Shop; Middle row, Barry M; Bottom row, Models Own, Max Factor, Barry M Magnetics

Models Own Golden Green, Max Factor Fantasy Fire (x2 cause she rocks!), Barry M Magnetic Burgundy and Magnetic Dark Silver

Barry M: Silvery Lilac, Lilac Foil, Silver Foil, Gold Foil

Barry M: Vivid Purple, Croc Effect Black, Denim, Black Glitter, Chameleon Effect Blue

Top Shop: Hypperreal, Hidden Treasure, Phenomena, Eclipse, Cosmic Karma, and Hypnotic

I can't wait to try all of these out over the next few days/weeks. If there are any in particular you'd like to see, let me know!

Thanks for looking,

Twinpost: Equalizer!

Hello everyone!

Today I have a second manicure to show you, because two of my challenges fell on the same day--this one is from my weekly Cheeky Girls Challenge twinpost. This week Dina from Secretary's Nail Art and I are both using the equalizer image from Cheeky plate CH31.

Mine went through a bit of an evolution because I wasn't happy with it. Here was my first shot:

Equalizer attempt 1

I wanted very much to use some of my new British polish haul, non-coincidentally also just sent to me by the lovely Dina, and the Barry M Magnetic Dark Silver had a cool pattern on the magnet that looked a bit like sound waves to me, so I decided to use that magnet on Barry M's Magnetic Burgundy. I used the Dark Silver on my accent nail, but didn't use the magnet on that one. Then I added a layer of Max Factor's Fantasy Fire over the Dark Silver in order to tie it in a bit with the Burgundy (and cause I was just plain dying to use it, lol). I stamped the equalizer in Barry M Silver Foil Effect. I added a row of square rhinestones to highlight the equalizer pattern for impact.

However, the magnet pattern didn't look quite as much like sound waves as I'd hoped, and I left feeling a bit underwhelmed by it. So, I decided to add a little more stamping:

Equalizer attempt 2
So, I stamped a few mini-lines with Bundle Monster plate BM-319 on the other nails, in different directions, using Barry M Silver Foil Effects again. this added just a little bling, and if I hadn't messed up the stamping on the middle nail a bit, would have been the perfect touch I think! Still enough of the magnetic pattern showing through to give a cool effect, but just a little more unified and complete.

Thanks for taking a look! Don't forget to check out Dina's take on the image by clicking here.
