(Before & After) Seven Deadly Sins + Halloween, Day 7

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

Here we are, at the final of the Seven Deadly Sins, which, if you've been paying attention, is Wrath.

So which Halloween baddie pairs with Wrath? I decided to go with ghosts--that's the whole reason they hang out after they die, right, because they're pissed off and they want revenge? ;-)

So, of course I started with a base of Spellbound Nails Wrath, a totally gorgeous red holo with gold holo glitters:

Spellbound Nails Wrath

Then I stamped with SugarBubbles 037, Winstonia Horror Night, UberChic Beauty Halloween 01, and My Online Store JR-22, with Kaleidoscope White and Black, and Moonflower Polish Diamante and Obsidiana:

Spellbound Nails Wrath + Halloween = Ghosts!

I do NOT want to stay in that house. And I'm hoping the ghosts can't stray to far from it, hehe.

What do you think? Which Halloween baddie would you have paired with Wrath?

Happy Halloween!

(Before & After): Seven Deadly Sins + Halloween, Day 5

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

We're up to the day five, and today's sin is: Pride!

Yeah, nobody promised me this would be easy.

One aspect of pride, at least the bad side of pride, is out of control vanity. We've all seen the pictures of people (men and women!) who are so worried about getting old and losing their looks that they get a ton of plastic surgery, or whose plastic surgery goes badly...so I decided the perfect Halloween baddie for Pride is the mummy.

I started, of course, with a base of Spellbound Nails Pride, a red plum holo with gold holo glitter:

Then I stamped eyeballs, lips (you can't really see them under the bandages, and bloody gashes, covered with bandages. I left it messy to look like a surgery gone wrong...I used My Online Shop Jr-22, MoYou London Gothic 04, UberChic Beauty Zombie Love, and Messy Mansion MM28, stamped with Messy Mansion Spring Green, Sterling, Red-y or Not, Carbon, and Sally Hansen Sand Storm:

What do you think? Is it creepy and goopy enough? What halloween 'baddie' would you have chosen for Pride?

Big hugs,
M. xoxo

(Before & After): Seven Deadly Sins + Halloween, Day 4

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

I took a break yesterday to show you a ton of gorgeous polishes coming up in November's PPU, but today I'm back with my fourth deadly sin...Lust.

Usually 'lust' means sexual attraction, but I decided to go a slightly different way with this one, because I think people also lust after other things in a way that can be destructive--like a lust for power and immortality. So, in line with that, the Halloween baddie I chose to pair with this sin is Frankenstein--and his monster.

I started with a base of Spellbound Nails, a denim-blue scattered holo with silver holo glitters:

Spellbound Nails Lust

Then I stamped using My Online Shop Jr-22, MoYou London Gothic 04, UberChic Beauty Zombie Love, and Messy Mansion MM28, stamped with Messy Mansion Spring Green, Sterling, Red-y or Not, Carbon, and Sally Hansen Sand Storm:

Frankenstein and his monster...

I've always been fascinated by the ethical issues raised in Frankenstein...who's the real monster, Frankenstein or his creation?

Let me know what you think of my choice, and what you would have paired with Lust, in the comments below.

Big hugs,
M. xoxo

Before & After: Poisoned Apple

(Affiliate links)

Hello!

Halloween is about spooky scares, and one of the things that used to scare me the most when I was a little girl was...the witch from Snow White. So, for my contribution to the Crumpet's Nail Tarts Halloween collection, I decided to make a tribute to the Disney villain that terrified me the most.

To get an awesome night sky, I used Colors By Llarowe Rest In Pieces, an awesomely holographic blurple:

Love love love this holo, especially for a deep night-sky look...swoon.

Here's how the manicure came out (details afterward):

Come have an apple, little girl...

Poisoned Apple Snow White Manicure

Poisoned Apple Snow White Manicure

This manicure was a conglomeration of a bunch of different plates:
Tree: LeaLac LLC-B, stamped with Barry M Silver Foil
Apples: Bunny Nails old-school HD 06 (the octagonal ones), Winstonia W118, stamped with Barry M Silver Foil, Sally Hansen Rapid Red, and Sally Hansen Red-io Active
Witch: Decal made from My Online Shop JR-22, with Eat Sleep Polish Sheets of Empty Canvas, China Glaze Cha Cha Cha, and Sally Hansen Lively Lilac.

I used a double-stamping technique to make the apples stand out, and then to highlight the poisoned apple, I stamped it in silver with red accents. When I stamped the tree onto my nail, I messed up--the base of the tree should be solid--but I think the mistake makes the tree look creepier, like it has a creepy smile on it, so I decided to keep it (Halloween manicures are so flexible, lol!!). An even though I created it, that witch's face continues to creep me out...::shudders::

What do you think, good Halloween mani? Especially if you're dressing up like Snow White or your daughter is, I think this would be a fun mani.

If this one isn't your cup of tea, or even if it is, check out the other Crumpet Halloween manis below!!

Happy stamping,

M.

Review & Test: My Online Shop JR-22 (Or, these are my ghost adventures)

(Affiliate link)

Hello!!

Have you ever seen that show Ghost Adventures? Actually, there's a bunch of different ones out there when people go into old buildings at night and try to get evidence of paranormal activity. I don't really watch them too much, except at Halloween time, they're kinda fun...And I thought it would be cool to do a ghost manicure inspired by them.

Luckily, I have just the plate waiting for Halloween to be reviewed: My Online Shop JR-22. I bought this a while back in anticipation of Halloween, and am so happy to finally use it!

Here's the video I made reviewing the plate:

And here are the still shots of the plate (sorry, I forgot to take the pic before doing the stamping test, so there is some scraping):

And here's a shot of the plate next to a standard Konad plate so you can get a feel for the size of the images:

How does it stamp? Let's take a look at my mani...

I wanted to create the look of the dark rooms they show in the TV shows, when they have the night vision cameras and everything looks all gray and indistinct. So I did a seriotype with Julep Ledi, Sally Hansen Gone Gray, and Sally Hansen White On. Then I did some reversed stamping with the little ghostie; I stamped him with Eat Sleep Polish Endless Sheets Of Canvas, and colored him in with White On:

A ghost in the dark of an abandoned prison...

Definitely not a dust particle or a light anomaly...

These are my ghost adventures!!

I love love love how this came out! The floaty ghost is all comin' right for ya with his spooky mouth in the scary dark room! This is one of my favorite Halloween manis I've done. :)

You can find this plate here, in My Online Shop's online shop!

Happy spooky stamping!

Review and test: My Online Shop JR-35

(Nothing to disclose)

Today I'm showing you a brand I've never tried before, My Online Shop. They've been around for a while, but you know how it is--so many plates, so little time. *sigh*

But I finally got two of these plates, and I'm starting off today with JR-35, because this month's theme in the Nail Challenge Collaborative is 'animals', and this is the most animalest plate I've ever seen. Yes, it's a word. I checked...>.>

Let's start with the video:

And here are the stills:

And to give you a sense for how big the images are, here's the plate next to a standard Konad plate:

My Online Shop JR-35 vs. Konad

For my first manicure with this plate, you know I had to check out the cute little kitties...they're half the reason I bought the plate! I started with a pink-and-purple skittle featuring Zoya Eden, Colores de Carol Amethyst, and Zoya Thea; I did a little sponging on my ring finger, and then stamped my kitties on top:

Kitty skittle

I have to admit I struggled a little getting these kitties to stamp well; unlike the images I tested in the video, these are a little harder to isolate, and I had to scrape/pick up each of these at least 5-10 times before I got a good image--and you can see on my pinky and my middle finger, the images still were not perfect. This doesn't mean that the plate is bad, just that it's not a beginner plate, and you may have to try a few times before you get the image you like.

What do you think--cute enough to be worth a little extra work? :)

Happy stamping,
M.
