Review: Messy Mansion MM77XL Easter plate!

Are you ready for Easter? I have a ham, and the ingredients for scalloped potatoes, and now I just have to get some dye to make my eggs.


In the meantime, I have a sweet Easter-themed plate to show you, Messy Mansion MM77XL. Here's the video review I did:

I love the adorable layering bunny and sheep on this, and I love the 'infinite' easter egg in the center that has so much to choose from, and I adore the cherry blossoms! But my very favorite thing on this plate is the scribble eggs--they're soft and have a hint of sophistication to them.


The full-nail images on the plate are 2 cm x 2.6 cm; here's a shot with a ruler (inches) so you can get a feel for the other images:

There are a number of very fine-line images with these plates; if you use these with a clear stamper, my tips are to be generous with the polish and scrape lightly to get the best image. :)


For my manicure, I started with a skittle of Zoya Amira and Lacey (from the spring 2017 Charming collection). Then I stamped the eggs on my accent nails with Messy Mansion Chalk, double-stamped my bunny image with Messy Mansion Chalk and then Hydrangea Blue, then double-stamped the polka dots first with Chalk, then with Messy Mansion Soft Gold:

I love this look so much for Easter--it's soft, it's cute and seasonal, but the colors have a little elegance, too. Pretty and fun. :)

Review: UberChic Beauty Yay Spring! plate!

Are you ready for a new plate from UberChic Beauty? I have a few to show you (video reviews of them are already up on my YouTube channel here), and today we're gonna start with the Yay Spring plate:

Plate size:9.5 cm x 14.5 cm
Full nail image size: 17 x 21 mm

The plate gives you great options for religions and non-religious manis for Easter (or a combination of the two!), along with a ton of fun images for flowery-spring garden manis, or flowery stuff to use throughout the year. Some of my favorites: the calla lillies and daffodils (pair those up with the grass for a gorgeous look), the cherry blossoms you can use for corner looks on your nails, the fun Easter eggs, the intricate egg at the top that gives you those sculpted edge to work with (use for French tips or half-moons, or over just parts of your nail), and the bunny with the glasses. OMG, too cute.

And how does it stamp? Great quality as usual:

For my mani, I started with a base of Girly Bits Robin Me Blind (half of their April CoTM duo), which may be the most perfect spring blue ever. I created some calla lillies decals using Girly Bits Little Black Dress, White Wedding, and Ker-minty Frog Here:

Originally the plan was to stamp grass among the bottom of the nails to make it look like the lilies are growing in a garden, but I loved the elegance of the color combination and the images together as is, so I left it. I still think it would look great the other way, too, but sometimes you just gotta stop when you hit something you adore.

Review: Girly Bits April CoTM duo!

Let's take a closer look. First we have Robin Me Blind, an amazing take on a robin's-egg blue crelly with pinky-gold shimmer, copper flakes, and pink-green ultrachrome flakes:

This is stunning! I love this soooo much, not just for spring, but for all year 'round, and as a base for nail art. The flecks are subtle and beautiful, and really make this look like birds' eggs--and it's an amazing background for any nail art where you want a sky-type background. There's enough special in here that you won't want to cover it, though...decisions, decisions!


Next we have All Bronze No Brains, a gorgeous bronze holo with a pink-to-gold duochrome shift:

Application: Perfection
Coverage: two-three coats

This is like an antiqued patina for your nails--like a rose gold aged into a bronze color on an amazing filigree necklace. It has a lovely holo flash, but also has an understated elegance--this is a neutral on me, but oh, man, what a neutral. The pink comes out more in lighter colors, and I could look at the rose tone all day.

Review: Marianne Nails plate 133!

Today we're going to take a look at Marianne Nails plate 133, which features a musical theme. It's one of three plates I reviewed in this video:

There are so many great images here I don't know where to begin. Bars of music in just about any feel you're in the mood for--some that have a more rock look, some that have a lighter, more classical music sort of look, some jazzy like crazy. But most of all I love the woman's profile made up of musical notes, and the little girl that can either be blowing the musical dandelion or the 'bubbles' out of the treble clef.


The images are all different sizes, so here's a shot with the ruler to help you gauge if these are right for you:

For my mani, I started with a smoosh mani using Zoya Charming polishes in Abby, Amira, Lacey, and Millie, then stamped my images with Messy Mansion Carbon:

I love how whimsical this is, soft and pretty and perfect for spring. I wish I had a skirt like this, with the dandelion blowing around the hem of the skirt...sigh...

Review: Messy Mansion Crystal 04

I'm soooo into spring manis right now, and I've been waiting to make my first cherry blossom mani of season, with Messy Mansion Crystal 04 layering plate. Here's the video review I did of Messy Mansion's Crystal series:

Pretty much any type of flower you could ever hope to layer is here for you, along with some branches and some birdies and some leaves just to make things complete. :)


The sizes vary, so here's a look at the plate with a ruler:

And of course what we really want to know is how well this baby stamps:

 The quality is excellent, and the images layer well--when my hand isn't shaking!


For my sample manicure, I started with a base of The Lady Varnishes Poetry Reading. I stamped my branches with Messy Mansion Pudding, and then my flowers with Messy Mansion Chalk, Dogwood Pink, and Petal. Unfortunately, I didn't put on topcoat before I stamped, so the green of the base polished leaked into the stamped images and changed the color--however, I really liked the muted colors I ended up with, so decided to keep it as is:

What do you think? I like the dusty vintage feel I ended up with, and that base polish is soooo gorgeous.

Review: Marianne Nails plate 124

I hope you had a great weekend--mine was stuck in migraine land, and I'm so happy to finally be out from under it. :)


Today we're gonna take a look at another cool plate from Marianne Nails, plate 124. In case you missed it, here is my video review:

This plate has gorgeous native images on it, dreamcatchers, all sorts of feathers, and a totem you can use for full-nail images. Don't forget to play around with the edges on that--you can place the images in all sorts of cool ways to get different effects.

How do they stamp? The stamping quality is amazing, take a look:

For my sample mani, I started with a base of Zoya Lacey (from their spring 2017 Charming collection), and then stamped over it with Messy Mansion Hydrangea Blue, then stamped my little lizards with Messy Mansion Pudding:

This has a cool southwestern look that goes with spring, but with a little kick (a little lizard kick, that is, hehehehehe). I was super happy with how well the Hydrangea Blue showed up over Lacey, for a layered effect that was subtle, but not too subtle.  What do you think?
