Selections from Moonflower Polish's Isla del Encanto summer 2017 collection

(Press samples and affiliate links ahead!)

Hello!

Today we're gonna take a look at four polishes from Moonflower Polish's new Isla del Encanto summer 2017 collection of stamping polishes, a collection designed to be vibrant and opaque over both dark and light colors:

Moonflower Polish El Yunque, Calles del Viejo, Flor de Maga, Cavernas del Rio Camuy
Moonflower Polish El Yunque, Calles del Viejo, Flor de Maga, Cavernas del Rio Camuy

From left to right, we have:

  • El Yunque: a forest green with green-gold to purple blue shifting shimmer and green-gold microflakies
  • Calles del Viejo San Juan: and indigo blue with indigo-purple-red shifting flakies and purple shimmer
  • Flor de Maga: a Red with gold-purple-pink shimmer and rose gold microflakes that give it a slight berry feel and
  • Cavernas del Rio Camuy: a coffee-bronze brown with gold microflakes and shimmer

I love love LOVE these colors, especially that brown! There aren't very many good quality, pretty brown stamping polishes out there and I am beyond stoked to get to play with this one!

Of course I did a video review so you can see them in action:

The first thing I did was try the polishes out over white and black:

You can see they all show up beautifully over both colors, and the shimmer shines through!

My next big question is always will the polishes smear when I put topcoat on them; here's what happened when I slathered on some Seche Vite:

Not even a hint of smudge, and the shimmer pops out even more. Gorgeous!!

The red (Flor de Maga) and blue (Calles del Viejo San Juan) called out to be tried for the Fourth of July holiday, so I did two complementary manis with them, over Sally Hansen Get Mod, and UberChic Beauty's Fourth of July mini (which I'll review next time). For the first mani, I also used Cavernas del Rio Camuy for a flagpole:

Since the flag wouldn't sit right on my other hands, I did a red-blue gradient with the stripes and stars image on the other hand:

I love how well these play together, and I love how they pop over the white. Very festive and fun, and I'm all ready for the weekend!

I'm impressed with these polishes--getting shimmers to be opaque even over black can be tough, and I was really pleased with how these showed up. I did find that when I worked with a clear stamper, I needed to work fast--something that happens with a lot of stamping polishes, but just a heads-up. And I love all of the colors in the collection--absolutely stunning.
