Review: Zoya's Spring 2015 Delight Collection

(Press Sample)

It may be winter outside (okay, not here where I am), but it's spring in the nail polish world, and Zoya's Delight collection is a gorgeous example of how beautiful spring colors can be.

Three of the polishes in this collection are cremes, and three are shimmers with a twist...

No spring collection is complete without a pink to represent the new flowers peeking out of the ground; Zoya Eden is a bubble-gum pink creme that has a blush of rose to it:

For all of the swatches, I show two coats, topped with Seche Vite. The polished covered easily; the formula was excellent, not too thin, not to thick. This didn't give me any of the pulling issues that can sometimes plague cremes.

Pinks are not my thing, but I do like this for a spring creme--I like that it isn't too soft, and that it has that hint of dusty rose to keep it from being just another spring pastel.

Next up is Zoya Lillian, a soft blue creme that calls up clear spring skies:

The formula on this was also exceptional. This is the sort of blue I love for nail art, because it serves a perfect back-drop for almost any nature scene you want to make. I think it has a slightly retro 1960s feel on the nail that's feminine and fun.

For our last creme, we have Tiana, a mint pastel:

Application on this was very good; this one is just slightly less opaque than the other two cremes, so I had to use a little extra care to make sure I have even coverage at two coats. You might find yourself needing three with this polish if you have ridges or serious discoloration on or under your nails.

When I look at this polish, I see a lovely mint milkshake, and I want to run out for some mint ice cream so I can make one!

The last three polishes are shimmers, but they aren't your ordinary shimmers--they all have a blue-shimmer flash, and I absolutely adore them!

The first is Daisy, a sunflower-yellow shimmer with that blue shimmer that peeks out:

Seriously, look at that awesome blue flash--it's romantic, it's country chic, it's a happy afternoon in a meadow of flowers. You will never hear me say that a yellow polish is my favorite polish in a collection, but this one absolutely is. Not only that, but it makes it onto my list of all-time favorites, period. This combination just works for me, and I've never seen another polish like it. LOVE.

Application was easy, like butter; no problems whatsoever.

Next is Leslie, a light orchid polish with that blue shimmer flirting through:

I love the way blue and purple play together, and I use the combination in my nail art all the time. I love having them together in this polish, giving just a hint of special; I think this is what I love best about Zoya Polishes, they always manage to find a way to put just a little bit of something extra into what they do.

The formula and application on this were also perfection.

And finally, we have Rayne, a light aqua with--you guessed it--a blue shimmer. Sure, that doesn't sound all that interesting, on the face of it. But it is. The shimmer is a brighter shade of blue, reminiscent of the glow you get with flakies, and the polish is almost crelly-like, so the play of the shimmer gives the polish a depth that is almost three dimensional:

This polish was a bear to photograph--I took at least 300 pictures and I still don't think I fully captured the beauty of it, the depth is so much more pronounced in person. I didn't expect to fall in love with this when I saw it in the bottle, but as soon as it went on the nail, I was done. If the spirit of Elsa from Frozen was captured in a polish, this would be it.

This polish looks less opaque on the brush, and I thought for sure I'd need three coats. But it covered fully in two, and was very easy to apply.

This is a cohesive collection that hits all of the notes you'd expect from spring colors, and also delivers some lovely surprises. I love that it has both cremes and shimmers in it; Zoya does that often, I'm a big fan of that common theme in their collections. Tiana is my favorite of the cremes, and I would walk miles for all three of the shimmers--but Daisy wins the top prize as far as I'm concerned.

You can find these polishes on the Zoya website; you can also find them on Amazon, and at local retailers, like Ulta.

So, do you have a favorite?

Happy Polishing,
M.

The colours are all really lovely, but am still not sold on the shimmers (this lessens my chances of you adopting me, right? :)).

P.S.: was just admiring the love your blog is getting, and just wanted to say I really appreciate it you still take time and reply to each comment you get (nevermind the delay, it's the the mere fact that you do that counts!).
