Hunger Games: Girl on Fire Manicure

Hello!

Finally have time to post this, waaaay past when it was relevant, lol. This was the manicure I did when I went with friends to see Hunger Games. This was one of my first nail stamping experiments, and it required a little creativity to try to re-create the Mockingjay pin. I don't have any ability to draw things on my own, which is one of the reasons I love nail stamping so much! In order to make this design, I had to isolate elements from the plates that were part of bigger images (most notably the circle was from a smiley face). Here is the full manicure:

You won't be surprised to hear that I used colors from the China Glaze Hunger Games collection for the base mani; I used Stone Cold as the base color, and stamped over that with Smoke and Ashes in a stripey pattern. I chose these colors to represent the bleakness of life in the districts, and I wanted the stripes to represent the fence that Katniss has to go through in order to get out and hunt. Here is a closer look at the accent nail:

For the base color I used Sinful Colors All About You, and stamped the flamed tip with Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Red Carpet (using Bundle Monster BM-18). I used Konad black polish to stamp the bird and the circle (using Shany plate SH-17 for the bird, and Red Angel RA-117 for the circle). The flames (probably obviously) represent the spirit of the Girl On Fire, and how she lights the way away from the bleakness. And of course the circled bird is supposed to be the Mockingjay pin she wears in the games (and that's seen on the cover of the books).

Thanks for looking, and sorry for the not-so-great pics. Hope you like anyway!

    1. Thank you so much! Nowadays you can get the stamp already complete, but not back then...sigh...
