NOTD Before & After: MSMD Monday featuring Misa Fountain Of Youth and Barielle Positive ZEN-ergy

Hello!!

Today my Monkey-See-Monkey-do Monday is the third in a chain of inspiration. I was inspired by this manicure by Polish Crazed (which you can see by clicking here), which was itself inspired by a manicure by NailXchange (which you can see by clicking here). I have a ton of thin nail tape, so I decided to go that route. I also had two light green untrieds that I've been dying to bust out, so I changed up the color a bit, too. :)

For my base color, I started with Misa's Fountain of Youth. This is a very, very light celery green polish (it almost looks white) with a matte frost finish:

Once this was dry (or so I thought), I put strips or nail tape at random angles on my nails. Then, I sponged over the top of these with Barielle's Positive ZEN-ergy, an avocado green polish with a ton of shimmery micro-glitter in it:

I like how this came out, although next time I'd stop the sponging up higher to show more of the base color. I also love these two colors together! Fountain Of Youth is not normally a polish I would wear too often, because it's so light and such a pastel shade; I bought it mostly for nail art purposes. Now that I see it on, I like it more than I thought I would; it's an edgy sort of pastel. And paired with another polish like it is here, it's beautiful.

One tip that I learned along the way with this technique. Either make sure your base polish is completely dry before you put the nail tape on, or de-sticky the tape a bit (by, for example, putting it on and off your skin a few times first). Otherwise, the tape will pull up the polish underneath it. This happened to me and I had to fill in the holes with a very tiny nail art brush. :)

Thanks for taking a look! Please check out the other ladies that participate in MSMD Monday, linked below via thumbnails. :)

  2. I am going to do this when I get home. I am only wearing one color, and no nail art today, and I am in desperate need of something.
So I will do a late MSMD on your MSMD :D

    2. I am terrible at saving pics for scheduled posts. I get over excited and post about it right away. Maybe if I post the pic on my FB-page, it might work..
